View Full Version : Poppy Tea Party?

So I was doin the usual lookin around the internet for drug info and I stumbled across this little delight.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poppy_tea

Apparently dried opium poppy pods can be brewed into a tea which contains a relatively high level of morphine and codeine, but the best part you ask? The pods can be bought on ebay!
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=poppy+pods&category0=

So earlier today I ordered 30 pods that are allegedly 8-10 inches in circumference, noting that the higher the circumference the higher the supposed morphine content.

I was just wondering if anyone here had any expewrience with this, and hopefully could tell me whether or not I wasted my money.

If not, I will be sure to post a report on how it works when I get them.

Oh, and here's the erowid experience reports, most of which sound promising.

Although I have never tried this, I know for a fact that it works. I have heard some good reports about it.

I'm not fussed on opiates myself.

A mate of mine smoked opium in Thailand and said it was just like being mildly stoned. Isn't worth the time he said. I can't imagine this tea being anywhere near as strong as morphine though.

It's important (I gather) that you buy the right family of poppy, the papaver somniferum. This family is in turn divided into several varities. Some are calssified as "low-morphine", and others not. Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opium_poppy) on the opium poppy in general.

Edit: Although there is no mention of which kind of poppy seed was used in any of the Erowid reports I've read so far. maybe I'm wrong.

Well, the ones I bought are in the papaver somniferum family, the gigantheum variety to be exact, but I assume that they are probably amongst the low-morphine content poppies, considering their wide availability. As for opiates making you fell stoned... I dunno, they make me feel very warm and fuzzy, and I feel add a lot to smoking herb- opiates + marijuana = best feeling ever (except for maybe the crazy-shrooms-euphoria, but thats harder to achieve). for the record, the other opiates Ive had are hydrocodone(vicodin), Codeine, Oxycontin, Propoxphene (a step down from codeine), and demerol (when I had my wisdom teeth pulled)- all of which were nice, though none of which I'd want to do every day (to avoid addiction)e
oh, and btw- m going to make the tea using the pods, not the seeds, so its poppy-tea, not poppy-seed tea.

I had a weird experience with the drugs they gave me for my wisdom teeth. the "professional" did something wrong, and my entire body was basically incapable movement for days. The t3s made it less awkward, and moreo f a good time though.

Ugh, wisdom teeth... I couldn't open my mouth to chew any solid for two days. I felt better though, because I wasn't eating a bunch of crap food.

Yeah, I did better with what I was eatting. But the movement of my arms and legs is something I like more.

Alright, so I made the tea about an hour ago and I just chugged it.

I used two of the dried poppy pods, seeing as how they are considerably large and I dont know their potency yet.

After grinding them up using my handheld weed grinder, which took a little while, I put them in a cup with a liberal amount of lime juice in it (the acidity helps the morphine extraction) and then covered it with hot water (near but not boiling) and let it sit for about 30 minutes. I then strained the mixture through a coffee filter and was then left wiht this.

I then reheated the mix in the microwave and put in two tea bags and a liberal amount of honey to hide the taste, which I hear is godawful. after letting the mix cool to a "chuggable" temperature, I proceeded to chug it, and, to my surprise, found the taste actually quite delightful, which was due mostly to the lime, tea and honey. This was about 5 minutes ago. Now Im just gonna sit on my ass and see if anything happens. Ill post an update later.

ALright, so its been about an hour since I drank the tea now and I can definately tell you that it works.
ITs not that strong, although that may be because I used only 2 pods and I didnt use the seeds in them (i did save them though) and I could have let it steep for longer, though I did save the plant material I used.
Though its certaionly not as strong as the IV morphine the dentist gave me when he was pulling out my wisdom teeth, it is most definately the same feeling. I'd rate the strength as a little stronger than a good dose of vicodin (which is saying something, considering the legality and price of the poppy pods.) - the feeling, for those of you unfamiliar with opiates, is a good general sense of well-being along with a nice boddy buzz that feels akin to wrapping yourself in a nice warm blanket on a cold day (i.e. wonderful), and much relaxation and comfort.
Next time I'll try using another pod and letting the tea steep for longer and I'll though in the seeds too for good measure.
I haven't had any of the negative effects (nausea, vomiting, itching), though I dont seems to get any of those from any of the other opiates either.
I give this drug a big two thumbs up.:bigok:

Edit- I also havent smoked any weed yet, which will surely intensify the effects (all opiates, for me, are only really "unlocked" in potential when I mix them with weed, nor have I had any potentiators such as grapefruit juice or anything (unless cranberry juice does the same thing, but I doubt it considering theyre not in the same fruit family...)

Happily for me poppy here is grown legally in the fields by farmers (persian white and the pinkish flowered kind). But I never tried it. Until know....:lmao:

Congrats on the good poppies. I'm from California as well. Do you know if you could replant these here and grow them? How will they grow in our climate? I know you said you kept the seeds...what are you planning on doing with them? Let me know how you progress...I'm going to have to buy some of these myself...see if I can start synthesizing them a bit to see if I can come up with anything interesting.

The seeds should be perfectly plantable, and they should grow rather wellhereincalifornia, considering our state flower is the California Poppy, a close relative.

BTW,I recently remade the tea but with 3 pods instead of only 2, and Imust say, that extra pod did the trick- I was nodding in and out of conciousness and watching tv n a couch for 13 straight hours, and felt great every minuteof it (the effects didnt really start to even wear off until about 12/13 hours after they started. then I went to sleep like a baby and stillfelt great when I woke up the next day. Although I did have some gastrointestinal issues for acouple days after, but they were much outweighed by the greatness of the tea. Oh, and these are the only opiates ive had that actually gave me the "opium dreams" that you hear about in movies and such- its kinda like having really vivid daydreams, except you're all opiated out and lovin it and not even caring that youre slipping in and out of conciousness.

HAHA! YES! I love Lucid Dreams. Out of all the Alkaloids I ever used, opiates just seem to jive the best with my body chemistry. It seems a lot of people avoid them because of the "depression" side-effects. I've never experienced those symptoms...in fact, most of the time I feel up, happy, and full of energy. The only times I've experienced depression or down-swings are after I take uppers...that's why I don't mess with coke anymore...it's just not worth the overall experience/price-tag. Again though, probably has more to deal with my particular body chemistry.

Yeah, I dont get any of the depression side-effects either, they just make me feel great for hours and hours, only i usually wake up a bit groggy, but itas nothing some coffee wont negate. As for stimulants, I like those as well, just not really cocaine, dexedrine is more my thing.

Yep works great I use about 40grams...I grind them up in a coffee grinder, then boil them for about 15min in water, and Drain...Drink it down with some grapefruit juice! I've have plenty of expericence.
