Do you think "Anarchists" would be less unpopular if it didn't look so much like "Antichrist"?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchist - "Most anarchist traditions reject capitalism (which they perceive as authoritarian, coercive, and exploitative) along with the state."

I thought anarchy was cool when I was 16. Maybe alot of europeans (yall cool wit me, I like everyone) don't like capitalism either. But if you are on the good side (i.e. RICH) side of capitalism, its really good. Capitalism is really about doing your own thing better than someone else. I though I wanted to live in Denmark when I was 20, went to Amsterdam when I was 22 and had a fucking good time and really enjoyed the people but I'm glad where I'm at. My society makes it possible for me to do what I do. People have money, they want to spend it, I want them to feel good about spending their money with me. (my current gf being a prime example)

I think I would be successful in an anarchists' society, its like prison to me. CO's (correctional officers) are supposed to keep order but really the inmates run the motherfucker. He who has the power runs shit. I know I'm a bad motherfucker, I got guns and could protect myself here. The person with the goods, (food, water, dope) would still be a rich fucker, nothing would really change in my eyes.

The person with the goods, (food, water, dope) would still be a rich fucker, nothing would really change in my eyes. Capital is a good thing, especially when run on it's own. A capitalist society with to much government intervention can be easily soured, much like that of the USA. But yeah, it's a good place to be. I have always thought anarchism was great in theory, but not fully functional. At one point I considered myself an "anarcho-communist" ( I spraypainted "I heart anarchocommunism" on a local tunnel wall, while drunk. I had the I heart, and didn't know what to put after it)because it's a really good idea, and seems much more plausible, but I've long since abandoned that. Yes, you probably would do good, because straight anarchy runs much like a prison system. I think you pointed out it's flaw on your own. Prison is corrupt. Although it is an every-man-for-himself scenario, there are people who take power. And the people who try and take power of an entire society (be it prison, a town, a state, or a country) probably isn't a person who you want in power.

The people in power now are corrupt, they are just smart enough and know enough people not to get busted. They bust the smaller guys to protect themselves. That is government in a nutshell.

Yes, they're corrupt, but it's not tyranny. Yes, it has the potential to become so, but not on such a durastic level. In a democracy, not that I think we have the best governmental system in place, we have the option to get rid of the person in power. No matter how long it takes, no matter how much the person in power can swing away from it, we can ultimately get rid of it. If George tried to become a complete dictator of the US tomorrow, it wouldn't go over tomorrow. In an anarchist society, power has the chance to rise from a society with no rules. He takes control of a small league, who takes control of a small area, who takes control of a small state, who takes control of more, until ultimately one man rules all. And this man has risen from an area with no bounds, and has the power to set those boundaires to whatever suits ihm best. Because, lets face it, you can't have anarchy for long before someone goes power hungry.

Well, it seems like an absolutely retarded question may have spawned discussion. Congrats.

...Absolutely fucking retarded.
Raise your hands if you're an anarchist.

Seriously, anarchism may sound cool and anti-authority and all that jazz, but it's one thing to claim you're an anarchist and another to practice it. Plus, anarchism has its own flaws, just like any other political philosophy.

Capitalism is a thing to both love and hate, especially when the government starts fucking around with the rules. It's another playground for "survival of the fittest" as the name of the game isn't "who has the authority" but "who owes who".

I like the idea of making my money make more money, while the dumb consumerist remainder of the population fills my coffers. Here, it's not about how HARD you work but how SMART you work.

...You may work for 50 years and still not be in any better financial position than the day you started. If you just save money and learn how to make it work for you, it makes a world of difference.

If you just save money and learn how to make it work for you, it makes a world of difference. this depends on goals as much as it does intelligence. If I run a mom and pop restaraunt for 40 years because its a part of my family, and has been integated into the community, I may be happy with that. If I run a small restaraunt for 40 years because "Italian should sell good", I'm probably a little more unhappy with the way things go, despite making the same share of money.
