Any American internet surfer who doesn't know of Astalavista.c*m, but knows of this site, get off the net! :kidding: Throughout this post, I won't be writing out entire links.
Astalavista.c*m was one of the first sites I came across after leaving my newb existence on AOL. They have some good, free information, but a lot of it became irrelevant for me since I'm on linux, and I never got into serious hacking. Anywho, enough rambling.
Astalavista.n*t is a pay site. I just downloaded their archives off aMule, but I haven't looked at 'em yet. Like all text sites, the info is probably freely available, only they've collected all of it for you. Pass.
You'll notice on the front page of Asta-.com a drop down menu with a lot of sites called "Underground Search" (stick to the "clean" ones). These sites are good to explore, for the interested. A warning, the site Astalavista.ms has what seems like an awesome forum. Exploring the site and forum for the first time randomly last night, I stuck with the linux posts for software and noticed everything linked there is freely available from the developers' sites. Beware, talks of worms have been going around, and the user links are linked to .rar files. WTF! I haven't explored more than that.
I do recommend all these sites be visited with NoScript for Firefox enabled!
Another site is blahblahblah.bo x.s k (no spaces) - what is that? A long time ago, Asta- used to be linked in to the "box" network (no frontpage connection at the time of writing). Let's explore that. Type in www.box....
Wow, it has changed. It used to be only the image map. As you can see under "Internet" that Astalavista is still apart of this network. As you can also see, there are other categories/sites for you to explore. I will not ruin the experience by talking about it! :naughty:
*Look for translation pages on some sites.
Two bonus points for the person who can tell me what country .sk represents! :ahso: No cheating!
The Asta-.com frontpage also has many links towards the bottom worth exploring. I'm a non-active member of Bh-forums.o*g.
Take a long look around. There are so many links, but be careful. Some are shady, some will ask for money, some will run you around. Windoze users, take privacy measures. Clear cookies before and after (paranoid measure only), use NoScript (linux users too), run adaware afterwards, have a virus guard on if you decide to download anything. Not necessary for all sites, but good advice for Asta world.
Also note, I've never run into a virus on Asta's tutorials page, or anywhere else on the main site.
