View Full Version : Moderators

The administration have agreed that we have little need for moderators at the moment... however, when the whole site comes online we may eventually require assistance.

Rather than post, asking for assistants we will probably ask people personally through PM, judging their ability through quality/quantity of posts and activity on the forums.

So if you would like to moderate, blow us away and maybe you'll receive a PM offering a position.

Well, I wouldn't mind doing it. In fact, I would love to. I'm online enough, I started contributing more, instead of just replying, and I won't get drunk with power. I'm sure there might be some reservations about me (heh, Stone), but if I knew what was required of me, I could the job and be fair. :hitwithro

I'll throw my name out there, and I can understand the decision either way. :vote4me:

That's a really good system of setting it up. People really get carried away and too competitive when competing for moderator positions at other sites so I think it is a good idea to recruit moderators personally. Also is there an eta on the release of the new site?

The problem is that I've been working as a freelance web designer and paid jobs have to take priority over Rorta. Rorta won't pay bills or put food on the table. Now I have a full time job but am only on trial until 31st Aug. If I have a certain site finished by then, then I will have the position permanently. The site I ahve to complete is fucking huge, with a full CMS. It's a lot bigger job than Rorta so I'm working on it in my free time as well as in the studio. Not to worry though, Rorta is very near completion, but I can't let it go live until the loose ends are tied up.

I do promise that I will have it online asap.

Although I'm one of the most active and frequent regulars on this board, and that I can do the job with fairness, I feel that after participating in such discussions like the "Does God exist?" thread, whether I was considered or not, unless by strong opinion by you (DD and Stone) otherwise, I must decline being a moderator, since I feel that mods should have a different perception, one of distance rather than active, sometimes heated, dialogue. :grouphug:

I remember moderating the drugs forum with bluestar on one of the older versions of rorta, as far as i remember I dont think I actually did anything other than move a couple threads to other forums. I dont think I'm active enough to moderate, however, my inactivity is directly related to some of the inactivity on the board in general. I do usually get more active along with the board.

The less moderation the better.

I'll respond to this as I would to anyone else... This isn't troll board. This isn't TOTSE.

FireXtol you are an example why more moderation will become necessary as this board gets bigger.

DoctaD

Is that a challenge?

No, that is a fact. I've just logged on and I'm working my way down the index.php and already there is a problem simply because of you.

One of the things I really like about Rorta is that there is little to no mod'ing, and that the users are (for the most part) responsible enough to deal with it. Other than launching the new site, is there any reason you expect to be getting more traffic (active advertisement, etc.) ?

By the way I really miss the arcade, I was slowly but steadily taking over the high scores ( probably more slowly than steadily).

I've only known of three members at most that exemplified the need for mods, but they all eventually quieted down. I think they realize this is a small board, and trolling won't be tolerated.

Which was your favorite arcade game?

The arcade will be back if enough people want it.

As for modding, what little happens usually happens fast enough that no-one even realised there was a problem.

First off, I would greatly appreciate the arcade. Always helps me pass the time, when Tetris is around.

As far as mod positions go, I'd like to note that my lack of activity throughout the summer wasn't for lack of wanting to be here, as much as me being on vacation, and having computer problems. So I hope that doesn't hinder my chances, if I ever actually had any.

It has more to do with how much I've had to drink.

I have to get down to this board's level some how.

This board was fine before you started trolling it, and now you insult the whole board. Can't wait until you're banned. So many people can't be wrong...

Hmmm. I'm new to this particular forum, but have been modding others for a few years and am a well-respected member of a number of drug and pyro communities of the highest calibre. I'm happy to hang around as a reg until you assess me, but I know S25 pretty well amongst other things (He prolly knew me as FullMetalJacket from totse).

I didn't mean any offense by it. Just that headcase hadn't made any real post to the thread, especially nothing worth thanking for.

I don't think we will have forum specific mods.

Due to computer problems amongst others I have rarely had a chance to look near Rorta as of late, but I'm back.

We'll be looking closely at the moderator situation soon.

Due to not having a job anymore you'd think that I'd have more time on my hands but not so. I'm working non-stop on my portfolio. I'll try to be around as much as possible and get the site finished as soon as possible. Sorry for the delay.

I think the fact that its trying to seem like a female makes it more obviously spam than the 20 repeated posts having nothing to do with anything.
