Tigertail stars are amazingly easy stars used in pyrotechnics. They leave an beautiful golden charcoal tail, They are very easy, and probably the star for first timers.
They use the basic chemicals. this guide is for people experienced with pyrotechnics.
You will need
-a little gladware container with a lid
-a marble (optional, you can really use anything like it)
-coffee ground kno3
-some powdered charcoal (not bbq)
-sulfur
-water
-a stirring stick or spoon
-scale
-dextrin
Ok, what you are going to do is measure is
-8.8grams of charcoal and kno3 (each)
-1.2 grams of sulfur and dextrin (each)
now put it in the container, put in the marble and put a lid on it. Now shake it for a good 5 minutes.
It should look all blackish/dark gray.
Now add a TINY bit of water, seriously...probably less than one gram.
Stir it, and add more water if you need. Stir it for a minute or two, it should get chunky, and if you push on it, it should be almost moldable.
Now You can either make rolled, cut, or pumped stars.
I prefer pumped, as they fit easy in my star mines.
This is MY video, It is a mini star mine. The stars burned out before they reached there climax. (http://video.tinypic.com/player.php?v=6ajzic1)
