Hey everyone,
I had a interesting E-book find called the Satanic Bible, ( By find I mean browsing and Poof, hey interesting let's have a look )
It was a very interesting read including the book of lucifer, the book of leviathan, more and more, everything about satanic believe, If there's anyone looking for this just hit me up a PM and I'll hook you up with the book
So, Do you believe in Satan ? ( the book says it's more of a dark force within the world that just makes things happen the way they go, Sometimes fucked up, and the other force I guess is luck, sometimes your lucky sometimes your not accept it. )

LaVeyan Satanism has nothing to do with devil worship or belief in the devil. In fact, if you ask a Satanist exactly what it is they believe, they probably don't have a coherent idea. I put them in the same box as all the other New Age religions like Wicca.
BTW thats really not a find, that is quite a readily available book.

I'd put them in the same box too. You probably know more about this subject than I do, but it just seems to be illogical to follow in Satan. From the non-religious view, it's following something to receive solace; however, the ending is known, and Satan loses! Why live to die and go to Hell? Maybe some people think Hell is like Los Angeles...

anton levey said satanism is not the worship pof satan it is realizing a persons own God hood, saying there is none higher, i am god and god is me.
this is satanism because Lucifer was expelled from heaven (after much ado) because he sought to "elevate his thrown to the level of God (isaiha{sp})

Well, that's because "Satanism" actually includes a wide range of "religions", which do not necessarily have the same beliefs and principles. To be a "satanist" is a quite ambiguous statement.

Not from their point of view, odin, because the idea of Satan in LaVeyan satanism is rather a concept based on the indulgence of one's inner desires rather than the literal Christian concept of Satan.
If I remember correctly, they are actually a bunch of atheists.
LaVeyan Satanism utilizes the shock value of being "satanic", but is merely a philosophical construct turned "religion".
...
Satanism and extreme metal are closely intertwined..
I just happen to find them both amusing. I love the shock value. :wiggle:

Yes, I suppose my use of the word "religion" is inappropriate, perhaps social club or some such applies more accurately.
In any sense, I put them in the same box of things that annoy me, like Wicca.
Many of the philosophical ideas in Satanism are valid and appealing, but they negate the need for Satanism in themselves. The myriad rituals and other aesthetics that are supposedly so valuable are completely ancillary, in my opinion. I think the main reason Satanism is able to attract people is just from the value of shock, and belonging.
As far as I know, Deicide is the only band associated with the Church of Satan. Most black metal bands owe some aesthetic or philosophical debt to Satanism in general, so I suppose it is valid to say that extreme metal is related.

It's a good book, although I actually paid for my copy. I agree with a lot of it except all the Enochian chants and the rituals, they're not necessary for the level of magic involved (very basic). The biggest problem that I have with it is the part which states that people are not all born equal. Come to think of it I don't agree with most of LeVay's ideas. Meh, it's still an interesting read.

I have to say that was one of the best things that I took away from The Satanic Bible. I really think that people are not born equal--I think it's an unfortunate concept that really fucks around with what we commonsensically know to be true.
Don't know though, I might end up starting a conflict here that I did not intend. :)

I think we are born equal, and from there on we either make ourselves better or worse off. Perhaps we're not all born exactly equal, but that can't be used as an excuse for how your life turns out.
LaVeyan Satanism isn't a religion, it's just a form of aesthetic terrorism and atheism/agnosticism/nihilism.
