Yes, yet another one of those "street fighting threads".
All I have is one question:
How does a smaller opponent beat the fucking shit out a larger one in a street fight? Keep it realistic. And let's say there are no weapons involved. One on one.
How? Would martial arts would help? Which do you think would be most effective?

Taller they are harder they fall. Might bet get them on the ground its the only way. Its what i have to do to my bro(he is 6 foot somethin im like 5ft8)
I have more strength than him.
believe it or not wrestling moves work well to get them to the ground.

Get as close to him as possible. The bigger he is, the longer reach he will have. The closer you get to him the easier it is for you to hit him while he may over-reach. A lot of people without fighting training have a tendancy to swing arms and legs when fighting and if he does, he won't hit you first time. Also, for larger people, trying to punch and kick something close can be clumsy and will affect the amount of power that they can put into it. That will give you a vital few seconds to punch as hard as possible at his kidneys, hook around to the kidney's and swing from the hip while using your shoulder as well as your elbow to give as much power as possible, which will jolt him with excruciating pain for a few seconds gaining you another advantage. Another place to punch is right in the middle of his front, just below the ribs, try to sidestep a little and give yourself enough room for a hook. That should knock a bit of wind out of him. Also, if you think you are strong enough, keep punching the ribs as hard as possible, trying to break them.
If he is much bigger than you, try to stay away from hitting the head until he is bent at your level because you will lose power by punching upwards. The exception is to aim for the bottom of his nose and punch up and in, breaking the nose, but not flattening it. A square punch the nose could flatten it, but not cause as much pain as breaking it from an uppercut.
Try to stay away from jabbing and crossing, they are most effective when you are keeping your distance. If you keep close you will get much more power out of hooks and uppercuts than square jabs and crosses.
A tip for punching also, aim for maybe 4/6 inches beyond your target. People without training have a sub-concious tendancy to pull at the last second just before the punch makes contact. If you aim that little beyond your target, you will punch with all your power. And make sure to put as much of your body power behind the punch as well.
Try to make sure that he is somewhat incapacatated before bringing him to the ground (to jump on his head) because if he drags you down, his bigger size gives him an immediate advantage.

Fight dirty. Go for the vitals: testicles, kidneys, eyes, throat e.t.c. Do anything you have to to win e.g biting.
And yes i know this will give him incentive to do all this back to you but if you get him just right you'll probably put him down where stamping will make all the difference

im 6'4" and an exboxer
the bigger they are the harder they hit
only little people will say otherwise like how ugly people say beauty is only skin deep.
get in as close as you can to not give his swings time to build up
go for knees and kidneys
if you're real short or hes reall tall you are a difficult target use that to your advantage and try to wear him down by fliting about befor going in
and height dont mean shit on the ground but strenght does
so keep him up and moving eventually he'll get tired

I'm an ex-boxer also, that's why I only gave advice on punching, I never really use my legs in a fight 'cos my instinct is to get as close as possible. What I meant by his size giving him an advantage on the ground is not his height but his weight. It'll be easier for him to pin you and harder for you to move.
As for the OP's question, I'm not sure how much martial arts would help, but having dabbled in a few, as well as being a boxer, I can say that boxing would give you the fastest return on your effort. Martial arts are all about self-defence, while boxing is about beating your opponent into submission as quickly as possible while conserving as much energy as possible. If you want to learn how to fight quickly then boxing is the best bet.
Also, boxing will teach you how to fight against people bigger than you, smaller than you , faster than you and slower than you. Being catagorised by weight doesn't mean that you will come up against an equal opponent. I remember fighting in a ring a guy who was 8 inches taller than me but the same weight. He had a much longer reach, but I had been thought how to counter that. I've never seen training like that in martial arts. I'm not saying they don't train you for that in martial arts, just that they don't to my knowledge.

I cannot stress enough how effective elbows are in fights...many fights at my club are ended with a quick elbow to the jaw/temple, depending on how fucked up you want them...elbow uppercuts are extremely effective, but they work too well for most fights...shattered teeth, bits of tongue bitten off, etc.

Interesting.
I've never taken any boxing lessons myself, but it seems that I could learn a lot from it, given from Stone says. And cheers for the tips.
I'm at a gym working out every day, but have not learned any formal fighting style.. I've always been interested in those martial arts that teach you to break bones and joints, but never learned one myself.
Yeah, just asking. It isn't uncommon for me to get into a fight. And often I have to fight people larger than myself, which is why I tend to fight dirty to the bone. But I am hard pressed if I don't have a weapon or the element of surprise..

if you're hitting with the tip of your elbow, then you're a moron....and deserve the stomping you'd probably receive. when people refer to elbows, they generally mean from about 2in infront of point to about 5in...just for clarification purposes.
I just don't want anyone reading literally into my statement and try to land a flying elbow ong bak style...if you do, it's your own dumbass fault...or for that matter, trying to land a strict elbow shot, with the point of the elbow.
if you do try though, please post the hilarious results, especially on the flying elbow.

When I fight I SCREAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM like a barbarian and keep ramming him with jabs btw If you give him ONE hard punch against the nose.. ( I felt this thats why I know)
One will see black in front of his eyes for a second or something
He will be kinda how I say, Confused ?

DONTTTTTTTTTTTTT hit him at the sides of his eyes ONLY if you want to kill him
A friend of mine only 16 years old KILLED somebody at school his face is all over the news and he just got out of jail HE only gave 2/3 punches on the face and KILLED A GUY thats what im trying to say fighting can either get you out of trouble, or deeper into it
one thing someone told me is, IF YOU KNOW A PERSON IS GOING TO SMACK YOU........ YOU ARE BETTER OF IF YOU SMACK HIM FIRST!!!!!!!!

Something common that happens it fights in the city centre is a person gets knocked over or hits their head on the curb, which kills them.
But normally the people involved are 18+

Ok ok, it will sever their wind pipe killing them if you get them there directly with a hard enough hit.

Easy, one knows what he's doing, the other... not so much.
