Wow, I like too much.

I'm a fan of 80's punk, I don't know alot of band or even still listen to alot of them, but I make sure to have the Ramones, Dead Kennedys, and BlackFlag on.

I'm a fan of any rock mostly from the 60's, 70's, and early 90's.
I can also listen to some techno and house and all that but those are for special circumstances.

Old Gangsta Rap (early 90's, Long Beach - Snoop Doggy Dogg) is listenable but I do hate rap an hip hop witha passion, besides that of MC Chris.

Ska is fun too.

I like mainly death metal and some punk, Toxic Narcotic, Malevolent Creation, Cradle of Filth, and all the punk bands I like besides TN are local.

Thats a weird combination, Reload... especially for a Brit. Usually it would be either the first two or last two.

Sayin' that, I have a friend who's choices would be very similar.

I like a bit of everything really, once it's not pop or cheesy.

I'm really into speedcore, darkcore, terrorcore, hardcore, noizecore... Shit like Venetian Snares, Neophyte, etc. I also like metal, but only really heavy shit like the Berzerker, Napalm Death, Carcass, etc. I also like a bit of My Dying Bride, Anathema and another small bit of goth stuff. Also, Irish trad and rebel music. Stuff like ?ire ?g, Wolfe Tones, Spirit of Freedom, Luke Kelly. I have a pretty varied taste really...

Whenever I think "England" the first thing that comes to my mind (dealing with music anyways) is dance and techno.

Thats a pretty just generalisation.

OsirisGuy429

I usually think of Germany with Techno. I really don't think of England with any kind of mention of music.

Bah! Music genres. Worthless. There was a time and a place where categorizing music was possible, but nowadays there's always so much bitching back and forth about what is or is not Punk/Emo/Indie/Rock/Metal/Whateverthefuck that listening to the fans argue almost puts me off music entirely. Ya know what music genre I like best? The GOOD genre. If a song is genuinely good on its own merits, I'll probably enjoy it. Except for Rap or Reggae, I never quite got the hang of those. Why yes, I am white, how did you know that?

I'm listening to a metal marathon right now, and when its finished, and later in the evening, I'll probably put on some Shpongle, or maybe even some Mogwai. Good sound is just that, and trying to put a label on it only gets in the way of the appreciation of its beauty.

My $0.02 anyway.

C.R. Ripshit
10th May 2005, 06:37 AM
I definitely agree. And if you noticed, the genre's I posted are ones that have been around awhile before the classifying got fucked up. (i hate the 90s)

10th May 2005, 04:33 PM
Techno isn't big in England... It's huge in places like Holland and Germany, but England is more into house and garage style than techno style. I know that alot of people consider anything electronic to be techno, but that's just wrong. Techno has it's own very distinct hard and heavy style.

blaksun
10th May 2005, 07:54 PM
I like emo.

Actually, there are so many genres of music nowadays it's ridiculous.
Terrorcore? Noizecore? HELLOCORE.

But I pride myself on my flexibility. If I hear a pop song that I like, I like it - I don't automatically NOT like it because it's a pop song. There is actually a lot of pop that I do like. DDR music, too, is great.

Mostly, I suppose, I listen to modern rock. And by 'modern rock', I am probably encompassing at least ten different genres.

Speedcore, Noizecore, Terrorcore, Darkcore... They'd all sound pretty much the same to anybody who's not into that kinda music. But, there are differences even though all are a sub-genre of Hardcore.

kbk
10th May 2005, 09:27 PM
There are deffinetly differences between the different types of hardcore. If you don't listen to it it would be hard to understand but there is deffinetly a difference there.

blaksun
10th May 2005, 10:58 PM
Every band sounds different, does that mean every band gets their own genre?
No.

I wasn't talking singularily about...hardcore. I was just saying that there are too many genre's
period.

The people who make that kind of music aren't bands, thier DJ's, and the reason that genre's are so tight with this type of music is because during a live set they need to be able to mix. Speedcore and Darkcore might sound similar to somebody who doesn't listen to it, but try to mix a 180bpm tune with a 450bpm tune and you'll see the difference.

C.R. Ripshit
12th May 2005, 01:10 AM
450bpm?!??!?!?!?! That's insane!

Stone
12th May 2005, 10:49 AM
I have music that's much faster than 450bpm. 480bpm is considered the limit for mixing though, 'cos after that it's to hard to diffrentiate the beats.

AnotherDamnNewbie
12th May 2005, 08:49 PM
Could you give me the name of that song(s)? I have to hear 450 bpm to believe it. The fastest I've ever heard of was 350. Something tells me that 450 would destroy my mind in the best possible way!

Have a lookout for a band called '?ire ?g'. They're the best and pretty fucking hardcore Irish Rebel band (even though they hail from Glasgow ). Well, the music isn't pretty hardcore, but the lyrics from songs about such things about SAM missiles shooting down British Army helicopters and just plain killing British soldiers is pretty harcore Rebel music

I don't know where it can be purchased, they broke up a couple of years back. There is a guy on WinMX who is always connected and has a few tracks, or someday you *might* be lucky enough to catch me on there. Just search for eire. I'm not sure would uploading them to here violate the no warez thing that webhosts enforce even though the band is no more and thier stuff can't be bought.

alchemist
soilwork

Pop punk

When it comes to your Pop Punk list..... I can admit that Blink 182 is a guilty pleasure (only the era enema of the state and previous though, their stuff after that is fucking gay) and I must also give props to Green Day, the rest of the bands however, IMO, suck ass.

Yeah the drummer from Leftover Crack died a while back too. Supposedly of natural causes at a very young age. Alot believe that its a drug overdose cover up.

Dookie and Enema of the State and everything before that is good. Anything newer I can't stand. Lately I've been on a search for all older music (If you see the Time Life Legend Collection, it's basically that). I've got me some Steve Miller Band, Lynard Skinard, all that good ole' Rock 'n' Roll. Oh and Billy Joel is a drunken douchebag..... But I still love his music.:D

Trance - James Holden. I've already sung his praises in another thread so I'll leave it off here.

Progressive - Sasha. Same as above, really. Sasha in Savoy in July.

House - Danny Tenaglia. Mr T pwns everyones DJ'ing skills. There are your skills, ruined - by Danny Tenaglia. Headcase's list of Top1 DJ's: 1. Danny Tenaglia. I'd say it was a close call but I'd be lying.

Drum and Bass - Dieselboy. If someone can find me the name of his set wich starts with "Fight for survival - I'm an everyday junglist" lyrics, I'll have their babies.

Psy-Trance - Astral Projection. At the moment anyway, ask me again tomorrow.

Psybient - Shpongle. Notably the album "Are You Shpongled?", and notably the track "Diving Moments of Truth. Trippy.

Trip-Hop - Massive Attack. Massive attack kick ass. You're a fool if you disagree.

Hip-hop - Pft. Not my genre. I still like Eminem's old stuff (fuck me that sounds self-gratifying). Atmosphere and Saul Williams for a little less mainstream. Buck 65. Nappy Roots. (Going through my iPod)... and so on. Mr Mushrooms...

Special Note:

Orbital - old school trance.

Mr Scruff - Jazzy, dancy, jazz dance.

Faithless - Faithless in the Marquee on Wednesday. Ecstasy is a hell of a drug.
