Heres the deal...

I have sitting here, a cable connection, a few puters that arent really doing much.... and a lot of spare time.

Now if i was to rig up a puter for you all to test your hacking abilties on, would you be interested?

Now i know there are a few of you haxx0rs floating around here, this is the challange, I will place any OS you want on it, *bsd, Windows, Linux, BeOS you name it, all you have to do is beat me as a Network Engineer, anyone game?

How long would it last for? I can''t hack fuck all, but it would be nice to have a target to learn from... I'd have to start at the basic's and that's why I'm asking how long it'll be up for, it would take me a while to learn y'know...

Im hoping it will be a king of the hill style game, where you have to beat other people to get the system then hold it, but im a realest, and i think that a game where i have a file with a code in a certain directory that can only be acessed via a certain user name may be the way to go.

I will replicate a few real situations that i have seen in my days as a hacker, so it should be fun for all.

Say if i can get 4 people interested i will run it, im looking at all of you people, jump on board learn something, and have a bit of legal fun without trashing your own system

I'm in the same situation as Stone ie. can't hack to save myself, but if you have the resources then please do. I'd vote for a Linux target simply for the higher challenge.

I'm a Novell network admin at the moment so I appreciate what ever methods "hackers" use to gain entry to systems. At the end of the "war game" will the techniques used be discussed/disclosed?

I'm not sure what's needed to start however. Wouldn't we need a webpage or IP range to scan to start with? How will the challenge be initiated?

I can?t hack well but I would give it a go, maybe have a CMS sort of system for trying SQl vulnerabilities and some simple mistakes like the same pass for the whole system :P

I would like a UNIX or Linux system as it would be great craic or even a windows one and a Linux on dual boot and we have to get them both (have a script restart both and switch boot ever lets say 12 hours)

I have 1 more report due. Funily enough it is on information secuirty.

After that is done, i will install a variant of linux onto the system, and create you all accounts, then it will go from there i guess...

At the latest, the server will be up in a weeks time, so yeah.

I'll include writeups on how i secure the machine and how it looks before i let you guys at it, that will make it more interesting. And holes will be placed on it too, as im a nice guy...

kk, Well, i was going to do the OS install tonight, and yeah i owned my self...

I didnt have any blank cd's, so i'll go get some inbetween classes tomorrow.
