Will some one fill me in?

I used to frequent WierdPier alot back in the day and heard of Rorta and encounter Rorta people alot on the Pier. So I'm wondering.....guh? Maybe we should write an article for wikipedia?

Rorta was started by T. Wedd as a proboard <insert date here> and is a community dedicated to the free sharing of information. The community grew and grew until T decided a change was in order, and then came Rorta.com

The community consisted of a large number of members from other bulletin boards.

...but then one day Rorta dissappeared. We waited, tried contacting T.W, waited some more. Nothing happened. After contacting T's webhost, I found out that he was AWOL and Stone and I decided it was up to us to bring Rorta back to the masses.

So after an incredibly long wait, Rorta hit the internet again on May 2005, now known as Rorta.net

Thats the very basics... everyone else, feel free to fill in on small details.

Round about date of the proboards era?

Early July 2003 to late October 2003

I'm pretty sure that I joined on July 3rd 2003. Became computers mod and a small bit later Asst. Admin. Then a time came where I had to leave (a 3 month drug binge) and handed over my position to DD (who I had brought from Pier to be General Board mod). Then I returned and became an admin again.

Unfortunatly, DD wasn't an admin in the proboards day, and I have forgotten my password long ago. T is the only one with access to it now.

Also, it now seems a good idea to have a page dedicated to Rorta's glorious history when the site is up.

I notice the proboard is still up. Is it possible to post to it? If so, this should be rectified. There can be only one.

Proboards let T keep it online as read-only. Only he can take it down.

It is a shame indeed. Looking at the proboards reminds me of the days when I was a mod... Before I left the scene without notice for a few months.

When the fuck were you ever respected enough to be a mod? I remember you from Pier as kind of a neglected dork in the corner of the class. Nobody really paid attention to you enough to even flame you.

I was told T made rorta in the first place as practice for something else, i'm not sure exactly what though. He stopped coming to rorta because he didn't have time anymore. I'll let him know that you guys have revived rorta and maybe he'll come visit

And a long and illustrious history it is.

I still long for the old proboards days. At least the new color scheme is reminiscent of them. Ah well. I'm probably too young to be nostalgic.

Oh, by the way, any rumours of my death have been greatly overexaggerated.

shit i remember the old days. i was asked to be the mod od the explosives section. then we got rorta.com. then it just randomly went down one day with no warning or reason and it never came back. oh well i guess

I would have been alot happier had I atleast had warning that the site was gonna go down, even if reason wasn't given. To each his own though, and I'm glad that it's back with some of the old people.

well, pretty much every member was a mod at one point or another...I like how it is now. it makes things much easier...no bickering over who has the right to change topics and such.

I really don't see the point in attacking me. I've never said anything bad about you before. That being said, fuck you too. I remember you as the idiot who could never admit that he was wrong in any situation because he was too self absorbed to get off his fucking high horse and see eye to eye with people.

I like how it is now. There were a few times recently when I wished that I were a mod so that I could split a thread that's going in 2 directions, but other than that things have gone pretty well here so far. As far as I know there hasn't yet been any flak shot at people over moderator rights and such which is nice. It was always a bit odd when there were 0921830921309 mods, but we did agree on things a good bit of the time.

I remember the proboards days of Rorta. Those were some interesting times watching the people slowly come in. I think we broke 100 or 200 and then Rorta went boom and got it's own domain and we had to start over.

I hope this site gets as nice as the dotcom.

I think of each in a different way...not necessarily better or worse, just different. this is slower, but it's also not filled with the stupid topics such as...potato wars. speaking of which, I just ate some mp...now that topic shoulda been saved as an example of what the flaming lounge is possible of. The poster child of what a topic should never become...

It is great to have so many back! We are not listed in any search engines or directories, so the site pretty much spreads by word of mouth. Tell everybody (who you think is worth having here) and keep posting. The main site will be along very shortly.

I logged on one day to see Eulux and Zbot has registered, and Kakk came online that same day so I told him we were back.

Yep...I pretty much don't do anything unless someone tells me they want me to. Anything that has to do with a group, anyway.

But...really...I gotta say, I'd never want to be a member of a club (or forum) that would allow me as a member. But then again, few of you know me in real life :).

Anyway, good to be back. Three cheers for nostalgia.
