Europeans have it wrong on this one. In America, we have the same stuff and more. We have the same prices figures, only we have items priced in dollars, not Euros (which adds almost 55%). Not only that, you pay more for less! We get free refills on gigantic cups of soda, you pour 25 cL glasses of coke for 2.20 Euros. We have cues, you have lines for every register. I can be standing in one spot while other lines move faster. There is no respect for first come, first serve, which is ridiculous.
Europeans do get marks in faster service. I had a delicious meal in Barcelona in a nice restaurant that came within minutes.

Recap, Europeans pay more for less and don't cue. America rocks.

I think it depends on where you are in Europe. For instance, in the UK we don't even use Euros.

But I agree. We in Europe pay a lot more money for a lot less. I was eating American gum [And a lot of it] this morning. It was purchased for 30 Cent I believe. In the UK for that chewing gum it would cost a lot more.

You mentioned a meal on the continent Odin, most European restaurants I have been to have a long time to wait. But maybe I just pick busier restaurants?

The only place I know in Europe that is really into the super value thing is Sweden. Where you can buy refill drinks for very little but get lots...

free refills on the iced tea and coffee, we have chinese, indian, and american buffet restaurants too. the chinese and indian runs about eight bucks for lunch, ten to thirteen for dinner or if its crab day. (people here eat crabs for some reason, yuck) i have not seen any vomitoria at these restaurants so there is in fact a limit on how much you can take. :puke: generally speaking, lower end sit down will cost maybe fifteen to twenty drinks and tips included. (tips are supposed to be fifteen percent, i tip about twenty to suck up to the hot waitresses) as to service, it varies. some restaurants around here are deliberately slow as most of their clientele is basically goth kids looking to hang out for awhile. others are more professional about things. generally you're in and out in an hour or less feeling quite satisfied with everything.

restaurants in the states rock. our magnificent waistlines reflect this awesome aspect of our society.
