right now I have all the materials i need except for the spring. and that i will probably be able to find somewhere around my house. these parts can be made of copper as they are shown in the pictures but i strongly suggest getting something a lot stronger for the fact that copper will probably explode soon after the first use. but if you don't plan to use this device more than once this will be ample.

the components are:

-3/8 cap
-3/8 to 1/4 reducer
-1/4 pipe x any length under 5 inches / 25cm
-3/8 pipe x length of bolt + fully extended spring +

components not yet purchased

-spring
-dowel for cocking lever
-whatever i'm using as a projectile

tools

- if your planning to steal the parts for this gun you should probably get one of these (http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r286/vee_door/IMG_0461.jpg)It will allow you to cut off the size of piece you want without having to pay for the whole piece or the smaller piece
-if you steal the pipe you will also need a threading too in 3/8 and 1/4
-the bolt can be made of a lathe or a drill press or a stack of washers can be used. I suggest the lathe but thats not always possible for what we are doing.

heres pics of the materials

parts acquired so far (http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r286/vee_door/IMG_0451.jpg)

heres picture of the two types of ammo in the barrel as is they were about to be loaded. The .22 ramsets are first and second. the third and fourth are a 25 i think but i lost the box and cant be sure.

Heres a picture of the assembled gun before any modifications have been made to parts for it to become a firearm. The parts will screw fit together if you bought the right ones as shown in the picture

i'm going to have the bolt made on Monday on my shop lathe and when i manage to get to a hardware store i will get a stack of washers for the people who don't have access to a lathe.

Is there any details Rorta would like me to further explain?

and comments or suggestions?

please note that i am going to be making this with 100% over the shelf parts that you can find in a hardware store or a plumbing store with a fair selection. If i make something that the normal person would not have access to, I will try to adapt the design or have a lesser version of the device that will accept an improvised component

some notes on the construction are

1. I'm pretty sure that a soft spring would be better for this but I'm not sure. I am going to test various ones in an attempt to find one that will work with this design.
2. the spring strength will get stronger as you move up in the calibers as will the needed strength of the materials.
3 I do not suggest making anything bigger than .45 cal with this design as it will need extra reinforcement that you cant get in standard pieces

I'm going to draw plans for it soon but i still have my bump key to do tonight along with some other things. Does anyone want me to make a thread specifically about the bump key?

You might want to add a space or a hyphen to the title. I expected to read about your "Penguin Project".
