Well, i just started reading up on this man, and he seems very interesting. His actions cause many people to believe him to be crazy, but perhaps he wasnt? he seemed to be intelligent enough to know what he was doing (iq of 167?) i would like to read a copy of his manifesto known as ... ah never mind, it would appear that wikipedia has the general ideas of his manifesto on it.

interesting and worth taking a look at

opinions? thoughts?

The basic premise of his "manifesto" is that technology is quickly killing the world and all the people in it. This is a fairly common sentiment that can easily be pointed out without being a crazy Unabomber. Personally, I think it would make more sense that the people controlling the technology are the ones killing the world. Corrupt Leaders > Mindless Automations. The level of technology found in George Orwell's 1984 is astounding, and could undoubtedly be used for a lot of good. Those of you who have read the book (or just don't live under a rock) know that isn't how it played out. This is the fault of the minds behind it. My opinion, anyways.

It's also a very anti-socialist book, which I again disagree with. Individuality does not need to be lost, and society doesn't have to become entirely oversaturated, for us to be able to focus on the commune as a whole rather than just our person.

I could actually go on and on about the silly concepts brought to light in the book. A few valid points, but overall it just felt unnecessary to me. Placing the blame for all of the worlds problems on certain things, rather than the world as a whole. This sounds like something a person with an overachieving IQ and a tendency to blow people up might do.

In your view, which technologies do we have that are currently corrupted by leaders that could be used to advance civilization?

In your view, which technologies do we have that are currently corrupted by leaders that could be used to advance civilization?I really don't think that techonology is all that corrupted by leaders, I'm just saying it makes more sense to blame man than machine.

Edit: To better explain... Part of the book (or perhaps part of an essay that the Unabomber published prior to this) was about how there is no plausible future where humans coexist with technology. I just don't believe that. This isn't Terminator.

Well in the past there have been cases where the leaders have corrupted technology and that technology has been later used to advance mankind. For example the V1 and V2 Missiles Hitler had built, later lead to the construction of the same rockets that went to the Moon and back...

I sort of sympathize with his cause, but he's a fucking douche for having to kill people to get his message across.

Yeah, his manifesto is actually pretty elucidating.

Not to support Kaczynski or anything, but who would of listened to him without him killing people? He was a very intelligent man and realised no one would listen to a man who says this:

The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race

Without desperate measures.
