View Full Version : Access to numerous "Junk" ATMs

Alright, so there's this place. It has an abundance of different ATMs. They're mainly those larger outdoor ones some are just shells while most have the internals in tact.

Now, we know there's no money left in them, but is there anything useful that can come from these machines?

We'd be able to rip out some parts and maybe find some manuals, but we're not sure if we can even get anything worthwhile out of these things.

Ideas?

Take one and ask local shops if you can pay them to have your atm in their shop.

Use the info you gathered to defraud the card users.

I think thats the most obvious use.

Well, the thing is that most are those very large outdoor models.

After some ebay searching, I think I may be able to make some decent cash directly off some of the parts.

Could someone help verify if this item is from an atm, or some other electronic? Thanks.

another option is to put it in a random bus exchange. that would get you customers and it wouldn't look too 'out of place'.

place them in the clubbing district of your city. drunk people aren't paying the most attention ya know, esp those dumb slutbags. you can catch a whole group of them.

where did you find them? like what type of location? cus i wouldnt mind coming across some of those also.

make my day better for sure.

They definitely weren't located outside of a Hertz building.

Sell the parts to skimmers. Or buy some card reading hardware and make your own. A good skimmer sells for $800 easily.

You may not be fammiliar with the rules.

Since our long-standing rule of 'no commercial advertising' apparently isn't clear enough, it should then be pointed out that it explicitly means no selling, no buying, no offering to sell, no offering to buy, and no trading. RORTA is a transaction-free, commerce-free zone. We are a website and forum dedicated to the free exchange of information, absolutely no business will take place on this site. If you have information, you publicly share it, otherwise you fuck the fuck off.

Hey Th0r, this would be a huge project, but you could somehow take one and re-program it as a keylogger. In other words, you might be able to get people to enter in their information to what they think is a functional ATM.
Even better, you could make it seem like a place to make deposits, but that would be probably more effort than its worth.
I am sure there are valuable metals and the board could probably be used for something. I am sure there are people out there who would buy the board, just to get a better idea of how to hack more contemporary versions.

While I can't think of anything other than the obvious (skimmer), I'm sure almost every part in there is useful. If you don't immediately find it useful then someone else will (sell it.) Just part them out.

I see some huge cash flow and logistical problems with using them as actual ATMs. The bank whose name is on it would confiscate it and destroy it if they found it. Any one who used it would immediately see a problem with it when it didn't give them money and/or function like a normal ATM (you would get one persons info, max). It would be reported by the one person who used it which would result in losing the entire ATM. And they are most likely in various states of disrepair which would mean you would have to perform massive amounts of maintenance on it before even getting started.

That has actually been done before, I believe by a gang on the west coast of the U.S. who phished tons of CCs by reprogramming an ATM they bought. So yes, it can be done.

There is also the scam where a person installs a fake card slot and keypad onto a real ATM to capture info.
