So um, Do you have any ? Do they Gross You out ? Planning on getting any ?

Me: I have my ears done three times each, my left eyebrow, and my septum done

Next Im either going to do my lip, or the bridge of my nose or a surface piercing on my neck, not sure yet, But Im thinking my lip would look the cutest ^-^.

I vote lip. Centred liprings always look ravishing on females.

I've got two in the lobe of each ear, debating getting my lip re-done.

I'm more a tattoo kinda guy...only have one so far, but I'm becoming quickly addicted to that.

I had my nipple pierced last year but over the course of about 6 months my body just seemed to reject it. Eventually it just fell out which was annoying as I'd spent $40 for it.

I have plans to get my eyebrow pierced but unfortunately I work in a Lutheran college and they don't allow for that sort of thing. I was also considering getting my tongue pierced but being a guy I'm not sure if it's the way to go yet.

What's everyone's view on the pain factor? Is it a necessary part of the piercing process or do you condone the use of pain supressors?

I like the pain ^-^ and pain killers usually thin the blood a bit.
I dont know if I could do my nippies though, that sounds like a bit much for me hehe.

And yea Im thinking the lip might be the best, at least all my friends are saying it would look really cute on me

I had about 6 different piercings in my left ear lobe between 20 and 14 guages. Two in the right, same sizes. But I took them all out a few months ago. I need to let them close up before basic.

My lip used to be pierced. Took it out because it was fashion. I'm aiming for the Army in a few years anyway. 2x left ear, 1x right.

I liked that piercing. But the practical implications outweighed my individualism :?

I could have had my teeth knocked out so easy if I had been hit in the face with a ball or something, unlikely though it was.

I say go for the lip. It matches combat boots :)

Sex related piercings are the bizzOMB!! My lady has 2 clit piercings. Yeah... Those are fun for both of us. As well as her nipple piercings. I don't like it when she wears her bullrings though. Its not sexy.

I got mine done on a whim, as I tend to do now and then, but the problem was I decided to get it during my work lunch hour. I walked into the shop told the girl what I wanted and she then proceeded to explain the process.

She told me it was one of the most painful peircings I could get and that, if I wanted, I could have a patch that would numb the area. The patch takes about 2 hours to work though and I only had an hour for lunch so I said I'd skip it.

Long story short I had to ask the peircist if the ring was in. I felt the needle push in but there was absolutely no pain involved at all. Strangely though my mate got his done later on and claims to have needed "a lie down" afterwards.

Personally I think the pain if any is a necessary part of the process. It just seems more "genuine" to get peirced without patches or pills.

Amen to the pain theory, phoenix. That's what piercings and tattoos were originally meant to symbolize, as part of a tribal passing to manhood...proving that you could cope with the pain, and have a trophy to show off when it was over.

I've never heard of any places offering anesthetics for piercings or tattoos. Part of that is due to the aforementioned desire to put up with it for the sake of show, and the other being that they want to know if they made a mistake during the process. Anesthesized piercings have a higher risk due to the effects it has on your system (including the thinning of blood), and a slower healing process.

Tattoo parlours don't offer it simply because your skin naturally produces endorphins for such a reason, numbing agents thin the blood (messing with the needle) and any painkiller will only fuck up the natural way of things. It only took about ten minutes before my tat started going numb.

Just go with the theory of "Psh, I've felt worse." :)

Never seen this thread before. All of my piercings were done when incredibly drunk. I Took a piece of wire and put it through my left forearm about 2/3's of the way from my elbow. Another time I took a large sewing needle and pierced the web of my thumb. That only lasted a few days.

I think, in 95% of cases, visible facial piercings look shit on guys, and only slightly more often look good on girls (although I think that's because most of the people I know with facial piercings look pug ugly anyway). Ok, I'm a piercer in Portland, OR and in fact I only just reg'd an account to address this post.

For one, if they need a piercees feedback to know if they made a mistake or not, they shouldn't be piercing peoples bodies in the first place. You are supposed to know the anatomy before you go poking holes in it, period.

The fact of the matter is many states consider the use of topical anesthetics a "medical procedure" and thus it is illegal to use them.

Now, with that said, I've been working in the field of pharmacy for over a decade now. I'm not sure what you mean when you say anesthetics thin the blood and interfere with the needle...

That makes absolutely no sense.

Local anesthetics for injection do not interfere in any way or thin your blood. Thinning of blood requires a dosage of a drug which will interfere with your platelet aggregation body wide, not locally to the application site. OK?

It's fine if you want to speculate about what's happening, but please don't go stating for a fact what you haven't checked.

Thanks.

Personally, I have a lot of metal in my dick which is about all I wear anymore. 6g apadravya and sometimes I wear a 10g bent bar in my frenum.

That's pretty funny. How old is that chick?

middle 30's is my guess.

anyway, do most of the "normal" piercings you do bleed much? or do you get a lot of aftercare questions?

neffy
15th October 2010, 05:28 PM
Round Elephant: Torcher is right, she's mid 30's with 3 kids. ;)

Torcher: Most of the piercings I do day to day are pretty standard, i.e. nose, earlobes, cartilage, lip etc. I'd have to say that the nose generally bleeds more than anything. Some areas of the ear like the tragus and lobes get more blood flow than the upper helix for instance and bleed more but are quicker to heal for the same reason. Usually it's only a drop or two unless the person's clotting factors aren't up from natural disposition or from not eating etc.

I don't usually get a ton of aftercare questions until I give them my usual aftercare run down and then sometimes they come up with other questions as I am by law mandated to ask them if they have any Q's or concerns.

Most of the aftercare questions usually come from people I haven't even pierced. lol

Oh, FWIW, the colored spots on her aren't blood, they're iodine.

Oh crap. I posted my dick pick in the wrong thread.

I would normally be able to resist posting to threads like this, because it's too much personal info, but I'm healing my 11th tattoo and it itches like they always do at this stage so WTF.

Current piercings include:
Both ears, thrice, guaged to 2ga, 0ga, and 2ga each side (the biggest is in the middle)
Nostril (16ga)
Septum (8ga but I have a 12ga ring in it at the mo) -- I don't wear this one a lot but I've had it since '97
Tongue (14)

Previous piercings include both nipples, a second septum ring, Monroe, and upper ear cartilage, but I took all that out when I started doing karate about a decade ago. The chest is a target. Nipple rings didn't work out. Just got bored of the rest of them.

The least pain was the tongue, you don't even feel it. The most was the nipples, but it also kinda felt good at the same time. The most annoying was the Monroe.

The only other mod work I've had done is dental work from when I smashed my face into the steering wheel in a bad wreck a long time ago. But lots of people do their teeth, so I don't think it really counts unless you file them down to points or get fangs.

Overall I would say that I'd much rather get a tattoo. It feels like you're being poked with a toothpick or maybe drawn on with a very hot pen. Here and there it actually hurts <lower back: ssssssssheeeeeiiiiittt>, but usually it's not really all that bad, just uh, pokey. Both are annoying to heal, but a piercing stops being sensitive after about 48 hours whereas a tattoo is just getting grumpy at that point, and it feels a lot like a sunburn.

I kinda like the look of those dermals but I don't think I ought to get started, they look like the kind of thing that would be difficult to stop doing. Makes me have random stupid thoughts too, like what would happen if you put them in your dick, would that be like a studded sex toy? Can you install them right on the tip of your nipple? How about on the clit? Ooh! Ooh! How about a little landing strip of sparkly gems along the labia!

I said they were stupid thoughts.

Get a tattoo of a field of stars, put dermals in there for sparkly! Or a manga princess with sparkly eyes. GOD! make me stop thinking this dumb shit! take my brain away pleeeeease!

neffy
7th November 2010, 06:17 PM
Th0r: They're kind of like skin divers only they have a different kind of foot on them that the tissue heals through and around. Skin divers just have a little pointed foot that pokes down through the skin and rejection/loss of jewelery is a greater risk factor with them.

Also, I'd shorten your girlfriends bar up a little. It's cute and it looks well healed, but the bars are usually about 11/16" or so from the surface of both beads, which is how much tissue it should take up so the beads rest just on the surface of the skin when pierced properly. This can be adjusted for with different jewelery however.

Random Leigh: Now that's an interesting idea. Dermal anchors around/on the pubes. An arrow pointing to it or something. A little smiley face in dermals above it?

Th0r
7th November 2010, 06:37 PM
I'm planning to get her a bar for Christmas so any size advice would be appreciated.

neffy
7th November 2010, 07:16 PM
Well, the bar there looks maybe a little longer than the usual jewelery I see, or maybe the beads are smaller relative to the length of the bar.

Is it 14g?

I'm not sure how she was pierced or what the distance between the upper and lower holes of the piercing on her are, but that's about the distance you want to be measuring from bead to bead (the closest points on the bar) on your jewelery.

I usually do it by eye now but it works out to about 11/16 of an inch when I measure.

There's got to be something out there that fits her just right, I'm sure. Standard bellybutton jewelery here is 14g and while it's usually uniform in length, I bet you can find varied lengths somewhere. Failing that, if the top bead unscrews, you can maybe use another lower, larger bead to take up some of the slack?

Or just don't worry about it and enjoy it as is. :)

Styling hair, trimming nails, make up, fashion, jewelery of any kind: It's ALL body modification, period. Different reasons for different people.

It won't ever pass. It never has! It's only expanded as the eons wear on.

An old friend of mine is the type of guy who has two Chinese kanji on his forearms. I don't remember what they mean. I don't know if he knows what they mean either, really-- he certainly can't read Chinese.

There's just something about them that makes me think of mullets, sideburns and Affliction t-shirts. The only two groups of people who should have tattoos are attractive women and Yakuza, and since tattoos sort of soil female flesh, to some extent, I'm sort of not too cool with that either. What's it going to look like when they're 87?

Whether it will pass is another question-- it's certainly never been around to the extent it is now. A lot of this new current crop of skinny, girl-jean-wearing hipster faggots are not big tattoo types and they certainly think themselves the apotheosis of coolness.

It's certainly never going to go away, and body modification in particular has only begun, but I think tats have reached the top of their bubble.

Hell, if I make it to 87, I'll probably still be getting tattoos. Medical technology will always be there to make sure my skin is good for it. Sure it will be my 5th body lift, but so what?

Maybe I can get a denture wardrobe going... Grandy's got a new grill!! LOL

Sadly, in my family what goes is not the looks but the mind. So I'll need tattoos to help me remember things, like that guy from Memento. *sigh*
