I dont know if anyone has been following the news with what is happening in russia, but comments?

I have been on vacation for two weeks so have not been following the news, as laying on a beach and swimming in the ocean is a lot more important to me.

What i do know, Russia invades Georgia claiming to be punishing "The Aggressor" Do you really think that Russia just wanted to punish Georgia, or do you think that Russia has plans for taking over the smaller country?

hmm Georgia was originally not really worth a shit, so I do not think it was any reason to occupy it

The Russian government obviously feels like they have to set an example. Georgia just ignored all of Russia's orders (and threats), and now if Russia doesn't follow through, nobody will take them seriously.

Seems awefully immature and egotistic, but they have a reputation to keep up.

Also, they have received intel that Satan has been seen loitering around there, looking to steal souls. The Russians are doing them a big favour, for a golden fiddle is no match for a fully automatic.

Yea, there are several Pipe Lines running from Russia to the rest of Europe through Georgia, but as Russia is pumping the oil through the Pipeline why would it take over Georgia for that?

Haha

this is epic. My sister was just telling me about her doomsday senario yesterday. It started exactly like this. The growing prices of fuel forced either russia or china to keep their foreign oil dependancies in check, so they start a small scale war. Another country takes advantage of the tumoil and ends up fighting over a common fuel source like russia and the middle east and america or china, middle asia and russia. that leads to a major war between two major world powers. And the allies wont sit back and watch, so they will be fighting for control of the oil reserves in the arctic circle and shit. russia will want it and canada allready had a lot of it so hey will ally together. The US wont have a russian ally so close so they will start some stupidly named campaign like "operation canadian bacon freedom" and setup bases here so that they can fight the russians away from US soil.

then the world goes to shit for about 20 years.

The Russians have been bullying every former State since Putin. It's a pride thing. It's just getting worse and worse, and now it's news because this is exactly the sort of thing Russia hates (ie support of Serbs with the breakaway of Kosovo). The breakaway province will just fall under Russian dictatorship in the end.
US troops may be there. There's huge NATO talk, but I do believe France is taking charge of this one.

From what I understand Georgia initiated the conflict, everything else is really irrelevant...inferior countries should understand that they cannot fuck with stronger countries.

Did they not start the conflict by killing some russians?

you really think without pressure from this biased media Russia would hesitate to completely obliterate Georgia? Fuck, if for no other reason then morale they'd do it.

No doubts, but that wasn't the point of my statement.

Russia-Georgia conflict created a big headache for Israel which armed and trained Georgians for years - and now suddenly Russians threaten retaliation by supplying S-300 SAM batteries to Syria. Here is what a prominent Israeli analyst says: http://samsonblinded.org/blog/on-russia-georgia-and-israel.htm
