Whenever you like, gbu, feel free to post additional info about that collection of yours. Youth knives aren't my thing, but the handcrafted items and whatnot pique my interest.

Who doesn't like Hitler Youth knives? What with the cool inscriptions and all. "Be more that you seem."

Sure, the inscriptions are detailed, but so are those of damascus steel. That's my ideal design for blades.

Even if it's not an inscription so much as an acid-etched pattern.

I got that one in Texas for $60, by far the finest knife I have ever bought. I use it daily and I still haven't had to sharpen it.

I'm getting a shipment of nine assorted blades/swords Friday, so I'll get some pics of my collection up here shortly.

Despite the resolution on that pic, I must say, nice knives, kbk. :)

I will have to take another picture, thank you for the compliment though...Our camera is a whore about lighting so I will have to get some flood lights and hook them up when I want to take a pic.

Split it into two separate categories so there'd be a better detail on some of those.

That's the tentative collection. I love my toys. :D

i just got myself another knife. I used to have an m-16 CRKT knife. The knife that I just purchased was actually 20 dollars cheaper, and it's just as solidly built. this would be the gerber EVO

i'll post a pic sometime

Hopefully in a few weeks I will be getting a switchblade, my friend is going to South Carolina and he says that they always have them in this one shop and he will pick one up for me...If he doesn't I'm getting one next year when I go to Europe with a school trip :).

A switchblade through the airport?

If it's in your large luggage you'll get away with it if the blade is under 6 inches. Only in the carrier luggage is it illegal to carry any blade.

Ah... Ive heard of people's cases being ripped apart because of small knives. Then again, these are just stories and never thought Id risk it myself.

I had a butterfly knife in my luggage when leaving germany. They searched my bag because the x-ray showed a gun (it was only a cigarette lighter shaped like a gun). They saw the knife, but put it back in the bag and I got it into Ireland.

Mine says "Blood and Honor." In German, obviously. Twisted indeed. I have enough Nazi artifacts that some people who don't understand that they're for historical value would think I'm, well, fucked up. And I am, but not in a Nazi way. So much history in a pin, a medal, a blade, an armband...

I have a Muela Bowie about 9" long. It cost me a kidney so I expect it to be good. Made in Spain. As soon as I confirm Aussie import laws I'm going to buy an HI khukuri and possibly a Paul Chen katana. Just for hanging. Or maybe for influencing flatmates to pay rent...

I also have a Leatherman Juice CS4. For giggles and work.

Alrighty, so after perusing my assorted blades, I decided I might as well pick a couple of my favourite brands. Ridge Runner (utility folders), Cold Steel (machetes and heavy-duty blades), and Rebel Edge (fantasy and custom folders/fixed blades) are my personal top picks. They're relatively inexpensive if you know what to buy and when to buy it, and as of yet, they've all held their edge through the abuse I give my blades without chipping, breaking, or warping. Anyone else want to volunteer a company?

tactical and utility...Gerber and Kershaw. My gerber holds one hell of an edge and it fits the shape of my hand better than any other knife I've ever had with the exception of a CRKT that had the same body style. The CRKT which would be on par with Gerber were it not for the higher price. As far as the multi tool type knife goes, the best one to murder your neighbor, rip and pry through a car hood, skin your girlfriends cat, as well as pull the teeth out of your enemy in the midst of war would be a leatherman.

well. seeing as i dont really need or see the point in buying decorative knives...i like my gerber. i never paid attention to the model or anything...but its titanium nitride coated, the latch is acutally part of the body of the handle (not attatched like most) and mine has kept an edge for more than two weeks. now to understand the effect of that last statement...you would have to know everything i cut some examples would be, cans, bottles, wood, hair, food...and a lot of other things that you would probably think of faster than i, but still. gerber is a damn good knife. ive had a couple.

I have a Gerber like that too, the latch is the handle. The whole thing is gray. We might have the same knife.
