What Tips, if any, are there on starting a so called group of thieves. such as how to recruit members, what type of people to recruit, the advantages and disadvantages of such a group, how many people and some clever scams that would require such a group.

What did you plan on stealing?

Why not just get some friends to start off with? Then expand through their contacts, then their's, etc.

But it really depends of what they'd be stealing, do you mean a professional shoplifting ring? Or burglers? Or from cars?

I made a thread about recruiting sheeple that you might find interesting. My first thoughts when seeing your question would be that you would need people that you trust. First of all that would be your friends. That's the best place to start. From there you ask your friends to each introduce you to someone who is interested in making some money on the side. That automatically doubles the amount of people you start out with. And i really doubt that you'll need more than 6 people. 3 friends and your good.

If you need something like 20 people. Get five friends to each find two or three people. With that you have your 20. If they need some sort of training you could make a meeting time and train as a group and call it a club.

Not always true. The only person you can always trust is yourself and even that sometimes can be deceiving. I would recommend this on a small scale that would not result in a huge loss or penalty if one member of the group was caught. Usually for teams though it is best to keep a low profile of yourself in order to protect from being incriminated.

Its not true that no one is trustable

I'm not saying they are trust 'worthy' but you can put them in a situation where its in their best interest to keep you alive and free. Like I'll draw out a situation for you so that you understand

Lets say Terrance want to get a group of people together to rob a warehouse that will be receiving a shipment of Ipods or similar electronics worth a total of say 2mil. Terrance get his buddy Philip to get a pair of guys. so now Terrance, Philip, Beavis and Butthead are about to rip off the warehouse. Terrance formulates a plan in which he is the only one with control over the money. He then tells everyone that they will be paid once the loot is in a secure location

Beavis is arrested. They dont have enough evidence to put him in for any substancial amount of time. the reason he isnt spilling his guts is that theres 500g's waiting for him when he get to his buddies. Theres no reason to give up 500g's when you know the worst they could possible do is give you a few months in prison.

There are a few problems with this though.

-There must be no evidence that ties your partners to the crime. If there is evidence against you, you could easily rat out your crew and get 2 months over the 2 years and still keep all the loot
-You have to brainwash them into believing that the money is worth spending a few months in jail
-You must have 100% control over the money/loot

Its very hard, but it is possible to be in a situation where there a vast amount less chance of being arrested/detected.

I highly doubt the OP here has enough profit margin to hold a crew over for a business deal worth spending time in jail
