Yes.

With the amount of White Supremacists in America I think that it is highly probable that if Obama is elected as President of the USA that there will be some kind of assasination attempt. I can imagine that there are at least several groups and types of people that could gain from assasinating Obama. I won't go into depth on who these groups are and their potential motivations for assasinating him but I am sure they'll try something.

We've already seen White Supremacists in Tennesee arrested for drawing up plans on killing Black school children and then assasinate Obama. Although if Obama was to be killed I would suspect it would be a Lee Harvey Oswald, Sirhan B. Sirhan or a John Hinckley type of person who siezed an opportunity to be famous by killing the most powerful person in the world.

As for Presidential security... After what happened to JFK no President has ever ridden in an open top Limousine and on pretty much every public event they wear bulletproof vests.

yea, they may find those stupid skin heads that drew up some dumb plan, but im doubting they would ever find the real plan to....and their are many oppertunities to do so, which require a headshot, however there are ex-military people who im guessing wouldnt like to see a black president, and they have the trainning to execute a sniper kill or some sort of assasination

I think there'll be a lot of attempts but I doubt that anyone will be successful. I think there's a big possibility that there'll be an attempt from inside the government, too.

Possible? Yes. Likely? No.

There are white supremacists in the US (a lot in Europe too, mind you), but they are no more likely to shoot Obama for being black as terrorists shooting Bush for being anti-terrorist. I honestly thought Bush would get shot during his first time, being some anti-war guy or conspiracy nut.

I'm sure the Obama camp is well aware of the situation, and deal with it accordingly.

As to the topic at hand, I really do hope that Obama doesn't get assassinated. I may disagree very strongly with his views on pretty much everything, but I really can see things going from bad to worse if he did get shot.

There have been seven presidents in the past 40 years, and all of them have had attempts on their lives. Compare that with history: of the first 36 presidents (over a period of 179 years), only nine of them had assassination attempts (four of which were successful).

Seems to me that it's almost a given that Obama will at least have one, and it seems highly likely, given the racial issue, that there will be several attempts on his life. I don't doubt that he will die in office, but I'm also a tinfoil hat-wearer, and I think that the circumstances surrounding his death will go a lot deeper than some redneck with a squirrel rifle.

I think they would be more pissed that he didn't go into the faith himself and embrace his father's religion.
I'm not sure if people realize that a successful attempt would mean communism in our future. Just look at Kennedy -> people wanted to "continue his legacy" and then we ended up with welfare. Also, the gun grabbers would go nuts.

I worried about the potential threat on Obamas life when I first heard he would be running. I like to be optimistic and everything, but come on, America is way too divided. Theres extreme racists working for the government AND civilians.

What would happen afterwards is what really makes me sweat. Probably a good amout of riots would occur.

The U.S. usually pulls together patriotic-like in crisis times. Not all the time, just most. We can only hope that if it did happen we wouldn't diversify.

I live in a high-minority area, with enough black and latino people to make white people the minority.

Except I don't care who they are, none of them would make it within a 15 foot radius of my front door.
