i didnt know where else to put this so this area seems to fit...
SWIM feel like stealing a car tonight and im wondering, aside from the obvious blinking light crap, how can you tell if a car has an alarm?
and if SWIM does get into one with an alarm would i be able to shut the thing up easily or should SWIM just get the fuck out of there?
also, what car parts, if SWIM gets under the hood, bring in good money if SWIM were to sell them?

If it has an alarm it is probably too new to hot wire. I suggest not posting this in a public forum also.

well, yea, posting it in a public forum is probably a bad idea, but i dont give a fuck...
it being to new to wire if it has ana alarm is part of the reason im asking how to tell if it has one, that way SWIM doesnt end up A. running like a bitch because of loud annoying sounds and, B. sitting in a car for half an hour hopelessly trying to figure out how to hotwire it

I suggest looking for a nice 70's car. They can be expensive yet don't have alarms. But on the other hand i have not stolen a car before.

hmm... you know any particular models that come stock without alarms?
i've stolen two cars before, one was an old civic and the other was a '69 ('68?) mustang, the civic didnt last long but i got the mustang back to my friends garage and stripped it for parts for his car :)

I would speculate that aftermarket alarms are easier to defeat because they need to be wired into the power. A lot of the time (at least when I did mine), the power for the actual alarm component is connected right to the battery.

really?, that's a cool thing to know ^_^
there's one of these (i think it's one of these) a little ways from my house in a dead car lot, i've seen it running though when they brought it in so i broke in to the lot and checked it tonight and it's unlocked, once i master the art of hotwiring on my friends moms car this weekend i think im gonna take my chance with it
