For a long time I despised this band... "Tribute" was NEVER off the alernative music channels, which were the only ones I would flick through. I must have heard that fuckin' song a thousand times, and it drove me totally insane.

However, recently I have listened to their album (self titled, I think... I dont know of any others they have) and I have to say they (well, Jack Black mainly) is fucking hilarious.

"You broke the rules, now I pull out all your pubic hair"

I would definitely recomend listening to their album.

Yeah, their shit is/was waaaay to overplayed, but it is good. They were played every second song on Kerrang.

Tenacious D (the album) is fucking hilarious. I borrowed it from this girl and didn't give it back to her for a month. I overplayed that CD so much. "Wonderboy", "Tribute" and "City Hall" are good.

Their shit is good. I don't think it's been overplayed in the US at all... Actually, I don't think I've ever heard on publicly. Jack Black is fucking funny though.

They're funny guys and probably a little but more overratted than what most people can account them for. What's fun is seeing them in movies as well, either as Jack alone, either as Kyle alone or both together.

If you've seen to video for "Tribute", Dave Grohl maked a pretty odd, but good, devil.

I HATE TRIBUTE... but David Grohl actually does little parts of a number of their songs.

David Grohl is an amazing drummer. Back in his Nirvana days at least.

Their humor is definately juvinile and sometimes just strange or gross. Sometimes even stupid. But it's fun when there are still people who perform that disgusting type of humor. These are the people who liked to watch Ren & Stimpy (I know I did/do).
