Black Book Online is still a good source, mostly free with some pay site links mixed in.

Don't know about those others sites, but the way I've always done it is through the clerk of the courts for the county he's in or was in, check the states department of corrections for felonies, some will list all some will list only those on supervision, in prison, released recently or on the run.
But to make it super easy? Ah just use pipl.com /donedeal and yeah it will outsearch google in alot of cases.
Oh and that link blackbookinfo or w/e posted above me, just checked it out and it's VERY good.

Criminal records are available from the court that convicted a person, but sometimes finding what court a person was convicted in can be a challenge. So its good to start with a cursory background check and then narrow it down with court specific searches. They don't usually charge a fee other than copying charges.
