Hello people,
Quick question for anyone who might know. With cases of ID theft (I mean when people pretend to be someone else, not just a cloned card or whatever) is it the social security number that catches them out? Because that's how people/creditors track you down.
I'm just asking for future reference because with a Birth Certificate (A really easy to get primary ID form) how would state offices know if a SSN had been assigned to that BC? I don't think theirs a serial number but can they check name and DOB etc?
I'm wondering if it's possible to get a BC and other ID and then get a new SSN and then passport etc? From what I've read into the subject that seems to be a big flaw that hasn't been picked up on, or have I missed something?
Thanks in advance,
Shackler
