I was driving home from Orange County last night and got bored of my CD's, so I turned on my favorite radio station and Coast to Coast AM (http://www.coasttocoastam.com/) just happened to be on. It was an interesting discussion about The Horizon Project (http://www.thehorizonproject.com/)

I tried looking for a brief introduction, but the website, unfortunately, looks commercial and Wikipedia didn't have anything. Anyway, the guest on Coast to Coast talked about the end of the world, and linking that end to the Mayan calendar using history to support past events and science to predict the upcoming global disasters.

I can't say I believe in such claims, certainly not from incredible sources, but I'm certainly interested in following up. Did anyone hear the program or hear of this project? Is it just a bunch of B.S. like David Icke?

Very interesting topic.

I'll post my opinion when I have more time.

So scientists all of a sudden believe in horoscopic astrology now? fuck that.

I'll be laughing my ass off in 2012 when they start looking like Elizabeth Claire Prophet..

The presenter pissed me off - a lot.

But the doco held my interest. Sadly, it was just entertainment. I rather less hypothetical Docos.

Missed ya, Heavy!

I must admit, I'm interested to see when the day the Mayan calendar ends. I always did like Sci-Fi, but it's most entertainment, though it does spin my wheels in the theoretical. These are the same people that believe in Remote Viewing (caps to distinguish...).

Actually the day the Mayan calendar runs out isn't in 2012, apparently it only ends if translated into the Gregorian Calendar. My only source is a history teacher, who I'd like to think I can believe.

It's just amazing to me how many people mistranslate, distort, lie, wildly infer based on ancient history. Yeah, the Atlantians had laser beam weapons... People do it with the Bible, Atlantis, the Lighthouse of Alexandria, Roswell, The Crusades, The Knights Templar, the Vatican, NWO, etc, etc, etc. I think it definitely makes life entertaining, but I wonder the frame of mind of such people that believe almost anything against the grain.

I guess we'll find out in June of 2012!

On what you said, I've heard people bullshit that every major event in modern history, from the deaths of Popes, to 9/11 and even the sinking of the Titanic were marked on the Mayan Calendar.

And I'm not even going to touch the other instances you mentioned.

However on the last thing you said it would be interesting to have some idea about how many ancient civilizations have had calendars that 'expired' so to speak that we have lived through the 'expiration' of.

Can you name any of them?

Well lots of Ancient Civilisations had their own calendars. I just don't know if any of them expire in quite the same way as the Mayans.

However interesting this is Odin, I do feel we are going slightly OT.

I liked the idea, interesting.

The video sucked, lacked factual evidence. But then again, what doesn't?

From what I understand, the Mayan calender runs out alright but its huge. 2012 wasn't the end to the Mayans, more a new beginning (maybe not existing mankind). Sadly, when new things begin they usually leave lil evidence of the old.

No sources, so my info is near useless...

Pleasure's all mine, odin.

I try to keep things as simple as possible. However after reading this, I believe we have some real nutsacks running around publishing material or at least trying to make money off of it.

So... we can have either of the ff:
1)a new planet entering our awareness
2)doomsday
3)aliens coming to earth
or,
4)mankind developing extraordinary psychic powers.

A lot of fucking bullshit if you ask me. Not a single one is remotely believable.

All these dudes can suck my big galactic cock, which will also develop the ability to cumshot pussy at 50 light years distance due to its contact with the coming cosmic energy.

I think that if anything does happen, then humanity will leave Earth to go and exist on another plain of existance for one reason or another ... or something along those lines. I have no basis for that, I just feel that I should say it incase I'm right.

I don't think that the world will end, but given these times, it's quite conceivable that there will be another tsunami or any other disaster.

There's also those adds on MySpace about how the Holy Bible prophesised the second coming of Jesus to be in 2012 ... and Hanzel und Gretyl think that in 2012, they will play their last concert at a Mayan temple, before it turns into an Alien spacecraft which will take them on a tour of the galaxy, before terminating Earth. There's a lot of crazy theories which just blow the whole thing out of proportion.

I know for an absolute certainty that the Bible doesn't at all say or even hint at when the Second Coming will occur. People throughout the centuries have prophesied that. Most recently, 1999/2000 because it was the new millennium.

There might be something in the Dead Sea scrolls or something? I've only ever read the heavily edited, re-defined modern Bible, so I couldn't say whether anything was said to suggest Jesus descending from the sky in 2012.

Hopefully nothing will happen, and the world will continue to decline at it's current rate instead.
