The AK is a nice gun though, but just because of its bad reputation I wouldn't use it for self defense.

I think there are a lot better guns out there for self-defence purposes.

The AK-47 is still a very good gun for the price. I don't think its possible to argue against the fact. In the US they get down to 200$ if you don't mind a worn rifle. Even here they are ~700$. Compared to the m16 which is 1500$+ its damn fine.
