well, i decided it's about that time that i waste a bunch of time drawing on my guitar, so i've been looking at a few tribal designs for inspiration and so far here's what i got, im still working on it and probably will be for a while...

the method: im doing te initial design with a sharpie, then i'm going to trace it on to paper for a stencil and finally sand the pick gurad, repaint the whit with a different colour (havent decided which colour yet...) then use the stencil to paint on the design, then a few clear coats, and im going to paint the pickups black to finish it off, or i might just leave the pickup covers off if i can... maybe

EDIT: instead of tracing it on to paper i think im just going to photocopy it.. it seems like it would be a lot easier...

i've got a problem though... since the pick guard is plastic i'm wondering, should i sand it so the spray paint will stick or would sandpaper just shred it?

sanding wont hurt it. use something around 120 grit. sand it until the finish looks dulled(which shouldnt take much). then wipe clean with a damp lint free cloth. lay your stencil. paint. then clear coat.
