I'm sure thousands of people feel like they interpret the holy book correctly. Thats partly whats so fascinating about the Bible to me. So rather than creating a thread for the individual passages from the text and talking about them, I decided to start with this. It sounds much more important.
What do you think the actual purpose of the Bible is? Is its only purpose to help guide human kind? If so, what happens when its purpose is fulfilled?
Also this would be an appropiate time to ask, do you think the Bible was written by human kind? If so, do you think it is also flawed by human hand? Since most assume that anything a human touches it also ends up destroying.
Thoughts and opinions, please help me understand.

To answer your first question, the Bible is a way for humans to find God. It's not so much of a step by step guide. If the purpose of the Bible is to learn about God and His ways then you will want to learn more and more because there is always something to learn.
Second if the Bible was written by human kind? YES it is written by people for people. BUT the people who wrote the Bible where not writing their own ideas, Christians believe that the writers where guided by God. This means that there can be flaws in like grammar and such but the basic message is believed to be correct. You said that humans tend to destroy what they touch well in most cases they/we do but in this case God ensured the truth of the writing.

The bible was created to control people, to bring fear to people. Along with every other religion. If someone needs to find god they need look no further than inside them, there is and never was any need to go to church. But on topic... the Bible was created to bring fear to people with the 10 commandments, revengeful GOD etc etc.

I agree with you mostly. I have another question. Why do you think religios orgainizations like oh say the pope and everything below him are now today more open to change of mind. An example would be the evolution debate. Churches for a long time denied evolution existed, how could it with god creating man only a few thousand years ago or so? That is just one example but there are many cases of the a specific religion saying, "Oh, ok you were right, we were wrong, BUT (add stuff here)" I think the answer to my question might be that people are here to learn, and that eventually after a long time, usually through trial and error (really slow process sometimes, yet effective) they get the right answers. Thats what I think the answer is as of right now. That may change thought, I try to stay open minded.

I agree with you a little, the bible could've been created to control people, but I dont believe that. My doubt stems from the fact that many different religions are very similar. Same beleifs, same stories, same "laws". Not all of them but some, now I do know that all religions seem to stand on a similar premise. They all want to learn. Today, I see little reason to go to church, please do not forget what was the original reasons that the "church" idea was formed. It was formed for the worship of God no doubt, but to worship their God through helping the community. It was formed to help the community. Modern churches, to me, seem to have lost hold of that meaning. Thusly, I dislike attending churches, and some people detest the idea of a church. The 10 commandments, thats a different story to me. To me God is not the revengeful one, he is but he isn't at the same time. Allow me to explain, alot of people toute they believe in a concept called Karma. However, they usually believe that its either Karma or God. I purpose this idea, what if its both. What if the universe is truely a kid with ant farm and God watches in amazement at what he has created. While Karmas place in this picture is it is a natural force, however we have not created an instrument yet to measure it so it does not "exist."
This thread is going to be a lot of fun, please keep contributing. I know I will!

Bear in mind that the bible has been rewritten a dozen times, been translated from hebrew to latin(?) to old english, and finally to modern english. Remember also, that christianity has evolved into many different sects over 2,000 or so years. So don't be surprised if it has been edited to suit particular sects or even personal beliefs.
