As I was doing some dev work I accidentally screwed up the database... We had to rollback the database to last Sunday's backup. I'm really sorry and I hope this never happens again...

Th0r told me his account was hacked & all threads deleted. Someone mentioned a cover up to me to avoid embarrasment. :grumble: Also April Fools ends at 12pm. Th0r told me about the hack half an hour or so after Rorta went tits up (I was posting at the time - Quite a long post too, I wasn't happy to say the least). :scared1:

Everything here is pointing towards a cover up. Unless I'm just being paranoid, I dunno. :tired:

If the feds really are involved & Th0r isn't online tonight I will be very worried. I have alot to lose & another spell inside is not how I want to be spending April or any other Month...

I can't comment I'm afraid. Although a lot of wierd things happened with the database. For the time being we're also having a shake up with the mods. There's someone who I'm *assured* by DD will get the Mod nod. As for the federales closing in on me, I don't know. I'm as paranoid as hell and I'm taking some leave from active forum posting for several days. Mistakes or whatever happened will need to be addressed in the long run. Just leave it to Stone to sort out. When everything's reconfigured it'll be fine again.

Well, it depends on whether or not they have already logged the posts. But the thing is, posts probably aren't going to help you get convicted of anything, its just going to give them a lot of information about you and your habits, so they can find you easier. For some of you posting pictures of yourself, your absolutely insane, I just hope those pics aren't really you *wink*

I'm just glad I don't really do anything illegal, I'm a petty shoplifter and I've never even racked anything over $50 bucks. I just enjoy learning about the possibilities of anything, it would be absurd for me to think I'll actually end up doing most of the things I learn about. I would really like to make acid one day, but that seems like a long shot...

I do think that rorta should consider becoming a little more private though, maybe at least make it so you have to register to view certain forums. Its a little too open, and I'm sure that a lot of LE people have learned a lot from the forums. Then again, I'm sure we have also been infiltrated for awhile now. I believe it was odin who pointed out that on certain carding forums the admins themselves were LE. Creating criminals is pretty high up on the government's agenda.

Well the only thing you can really do is learn from your mistakes. I used to post at graffiti forums, and after hearing about people getting busted because of the forums, I realized it would be dumb of me to put too much personal info ANYWHERE on the internet. A lot of shit I post is kind of... deceiving. Anything that might regard me and my interests, that is. Well, not to say I'm not intrigued by certain things, but I don't necessarily participate in them.

No, Rorta was not hacked. th0r was hacked. He had a keylogger on his machine and someone from a Greek IP deleted all the posts. We had to revert to our last database backup.

Maybe it was the admins fault for giving too much power to mods. From now on there will be no global mods. There will be mods per forum with a loss less powers.

Rest assured though that the only people who can see IP's are me and DD, and our acc's and PC's are secured.

I used to only log onto rorta using proxies, but it was too much hassle, I just bump my neighbors connect now, which probably doesn't make a difference since I just said its my neighbor, hah.

I don't know who mods where now, but any of the general discussion forums would be up my alley, it's pretty easy to tell what should / shouldn't be posted, I can make good conversation, and last but not least, I have -no- life, which included a lack of job at the moment.

Whatever hacked my account was bot. It knew exactly what to do and where to go. It bypassed everything, probably exploiting some sort of glitch in vB. We could never delete threads, only hide them from normal users. This leads me to conclude that whoever did this was an expert. They spotted a weakness and exploited it. DoctaD corrected the permissions soon after myself and Odin were appointed. I did a check using the Mod CP to see whether permissions had been changed and as far as I could tell there were no changes whatsoever.

I'm disappointed that Stone doesn't see the need for Global Mods. I've fixed my computer and the flaws are gone. I've got a damn sight better password and I'm here to stay, as long as the Admins and the posters want me. If you don't then I'll leave. Surprisingly Rorta is one of the few things I genuinely care about and am passionate for. If there's something I can do to make Rorta a better place for people then I'll do it.

This type of thing has the potential to destroy Rorta. Don't let it. I made a mistake and now I'm paying for it.
