Check out SeatGuru(.com). It's a great sight I use to see whether or not I should change seats. Usually, I don't have to, but it's worth the time researching. They also details the amenities of the aircraft, like seat width, movie selection, etc.

From their site, "In October 2001, frequent flyer Matthew Daimler launched SeatGuru.com with a single color-coded interactive airplane seating chart. Having experienced firsthand the vast differences between airline seats, he was determined to collect this useful information and share it with other travelers. Over ten million visitors later, SeatGuru has enjoyed incredible success and has expanded to include more than 550 airplane seatmaps from more than 80 different airlines.

In 2007, SeatGuru was purchased by TripAdvisor.com. Sharing the common goal of finding the truth from real travelers, SeatGuru and TripAdvisor work together to bring you the most up-to-date information about travel."

So, check it out before your next flight. It's especially useful for long-haul flights.

Once i get my Tickets, i'll definately refer to this site to check out where my seats are going to be. I didn't have very good seating on my last Trans-Continental Flight.....

So, what if i cross check with Seat Guru and i find that i don't like my seats? Can you actually get your seats changed to something you'd prefer and if so how, you make a phone call to.....?

You'd have to go to the airline site and change your seat from there.

Now you can check your seay before you buy it.
So when you call to purchase a seat, ask for that seat number.

I'm sure you can figure out how to arrange seats, Day... Change on the internet, visit the airline at the airport or call.

It depends what you're looking for in a seat.

Statistically speaking, the back third produced the most survivors over the decades. Nowadays, however, the middle is supposed to be the safest structurally. In the event of a mid-air explosion, the middle guarantees a quick death.

This seems contrary, even though you said "supposed".

I have wondered about that. I always sit in the back, but it's usually because I like to sit in the window seat and try to avoid little kids, etc. Also, I figured the back is the where survivors have sat (few may they be) and always wondered if the front it more dangerous because its usually first to impact, or whether the middle is the worst because of the engines on both sides.
