1/3=0.333333ect
2/3=0.666666ect
3/3=0.999999ect

Therefore 0.9999999ect = 1
Because 3/3 = 1

Not really a question, but an interesting topic none the less.
Feel like an argument Rorta?

I feel the quotation in your signature sums this up well.

But one third of one isn't actually three point three recurring. That's just the closest representation.

You mean point three recurring . And you are incorrect. The fact that the 3 is recurring forever makes one third of one exactly .333recurring.

DJ you messed up the title of the thread. You said 9.999... equals one not .9999... equals one. And both are wrong anyway.

.999999999999recurring does not equal one.

although .999999999etc. isn't 1, it's close enough for the average person to make it a round number.

Yeah, that's what I meant, thanks. One third of one isn't exactly 0.3Recurring though.

.999repeating forever is not 3/3
.666repeating forever is not 2/3
.333repeating forever is not 1/3

.VX is right.

I've never seen so many posts answer the same question differently. Time for an end.
