Very soon I am going to be going abroad on holiday, I was wondering what kind of things we are allowed to take with us, I'm not talking about hand luggage I mean the big bag you don't see until the next airport. Am I allowed to take, for example, magnets and some pliers?

Pliers? Obviously not.

Magnets? Well maybe if you placed them in hand luggage.

The airport security won't allow anything, for obvious reasons which could be used in any way in a hijacking. You also aren't allowed to take bottled drinks onboard flights.

You're best reading the guidelines subject to airport and airline guidelines.

Box Cutters, Switch Blades, A head band with Arabic writing on it, and most importantly of all....A Denim Vest.

the TSA specifically says that Pliers, seven inches or less, are allowed in your carry-on bag and checked luggage. Pliers over 7 inches long must be in your checked luggage.

it doesnt make any mention of magnets, so if it were me, i would call the airline you're going to be flying with and ask them if the magnets are allowed in either your checked bag or carry-on

Well this was placed in crime section for a reason, I apologise although until this thread I was never aware of a travel section as I had overlooked it. It is up to you which section it belongs in.

If you use the pliers to pry open the wet bar in the stewardess station you can steal some miniature bottles of booze.

There, now it's a crime related thread!

I think it depends upon the intent of the OP... Alcohol is free on international flights.

You can take just about anything in your luggage, but if it's illegal in the country which you're picking it up in, then you'll have it confiscated and maybe get a fine.

I'm not doing anything on the plane, just like to have them in the other country if opportunities arise. Can I definitely have them in my baggage rather than hand luggage?

Checked luggage you can bring pretty much anything except explosive firearms bleaches and acids other than that I wouldn't put in anything pressurized because it may pop during flight such as a pop bottle or something. Pliers are allowed ( I've takin swords from Australia to Canada and as long as I declared them I was ok). Of course dont bring anything Illegal across because you could be arrested or sent back.

As this all varies from country to country it is best to check out your carries website to make sure everything's ok
