hell I'd like to see it. If you don't mind saying, did you produce this yourself or did you purchase it? If you produced it yourself what were your proportions? Also what did you ignite it with?

Ah alright. I've always had a hard time using magnesium ribbon to do anything constructive. The few times that I made thermite I always used flash powder to ignite it.
I made up some regular ole 7:3 KClO4:Al flash and then mixed it with just barely enough glycerin to make it stick together. This was put into the middle of a piece of packaging tape. It ignites easily enough and burns nice and hot but it can get picky at times. To make sure it was going to ignite I folded another smaller piece of packaging tape in half with a mixture of 6:4 KClO4: powdered sugar in it. This had a fuse coming out of it. the smaller fused tape bag was laid down ontop of the flash in the other tape bag, and the larger tape bag was sealed.
Drop tape bag ontop of thermite, light fuse, and step back. Just because I'm curious, did it make more or less smoke than Fe2O3 thermite? I would think it would make more but who knows.

What would KClO4 be more commonly known as to us non-chemists?

@ Stone, KClO4 is Potassium perchlorate
I used roughly 6 grams of flash ignited with roughly 2 grams of KClO4/sugar. as a whole package it ignited about 50 grams of Fe2O3 (iron oxide aka rust) thermite rather well.

KClO4 sounds really familiar. Does potassium perchlorate have any other names? Is it in any substances I might know?

erm, it can be used to in koi ponds to treat parasites and such but I dont know of it having any brand names.

Maybe you've heard of KClO3? or NaClO3? The K version is used in matches and such While the Na version is common as a weed killer

Yeah, it could'a been the Na stuff.

I didnt post it yet, But I had KlO3 around So i made matches (the safety kind though..) its quite easy and they look cooler when they burn.
Just use
3 parts KlO3
1 part Dextrin
1 part Sulfur
*optional* 1 part red phosphorus- if you have red phosphorus, you can use it here to make strike anywere, but if you dont want to waste it than the above works fine, you just have to strike it on a box.
I dont reccommend making more than .5g at a time, as .5g made me about 20 large matches and its tempting fate to make large batches, expecially if you added the RP.
Make sure you coat your matches while its wet, and let them completly dry. the drying took me about 6 hours with a fan.

eh, I had the stuff lying around and I got bored So I decided to screw something up with thermite. I've got a page on My site documenting it. I will say that it burned away a lot faster than I remembered it burning..
