I could go in-depth trying to explain it, but this video pretty much says it all.

Id like to see some work on building an actual taser from easily available components (Tasers actually shoot two barb/wire dealeos ). Hrrm, once I get the time I may have to look into it.
Funny Video though, sure does bring me back ^-^

Well now... The video wont load for me no matter what I do so... What is it exactly that he's using to shock his friends? I remember one time back in the day when I had taken appart a disposable camera, attached a lead to each of the leads from the capacitor inside, and then put the whole thing inside an altoids mint can with the two leads sticking out of the side of the can. when both electrodes touched somehting conductive it would immediately short out the 330 volt capacitor. It was fun enough to charge it up and zap quarters with it since it would spark and produce a loud snap when the capacitors discharged. It would also weld the quarters.
At one point I cut the wall plug and it's wire from a stereo that I didn't need anymore, cut the plug off of the end, and stripped the 2 wires at both ends. One end of the wires were connected to the electrodes on the stungun with wire nuts, and the thing was put into a sealed plastic box that I had in my coat pocket. The other ends of the wire were soldered to 2 quarter inch metal discs, the backs of which were coated in rubber. The metal disc ends of the wire were ran up through my coat sleev and attached to my fingertips with rubber cement. I walked around school (just one day) going up to people I knew touching them and scaring the fuck out of them. i guess i'd be kinda scared too though if someone touched me and my body was suddenly filled with an angry warm sensation that made me tense up and rendered me immobile for a couple seconds.
Since it was DC though and since there was a bit too much amperage (I believe, I'm not sure about that one though) it would burn their skin. That's mainly why I didn't keep doing it. I've actually still got just the stungun itself hanging on my wall from a string. I thought about making a how-to for it on my site.. I probably still need to. I'll put it on my list of shit to do.

What are the legal implications of carrying such a weapon?

You could claim that you have a bad heart, and this is your home made de... umm, ya know the thing I mean.

Defibrillator? Smart ass answers aside, realistically, electrocuting people even if in self-defense is going to land you in trouble I would imagine?

I would assume it would be seen an an offensive weapon in the majority of cases... especially if it looks home made.
If a lightly built woman was carrying it, she could probably get off with the excuse that it's for her protection.
As for ~6 foot tall males in late teens/early-mid 20s, I can't honestly think of an excuse. I suppse you could try the same, say you are in constant fear of gang X attacking you again and need something which you feel would give you protection.

Or carry second camera that looks identical, without the wires sticking out of the flash portal? I'm more for keeping that sort of thing strictly to parties when you want to mess with people, not carry concealed in public...
I dunno, I made one using the guy's techniques...it's a little harder to shock someone than he makes it seem. And according to my tests, the wires still hold a charge when you remove the battery after charging it. So slight precautions might be a good idea.
As for the shock itself, it doesn't quite...hurt...it does act like a taser in that it makes the shocked extremity go somewhat numb. Amazing what a little AA battery can do. :)
And as for legal implications, there'd probably be a bullshit something-or-other about tampering with electronic equipment with the intent to harm, or some such blather. Psh.

Side note.. If an electrical stun weapon of any sort burns flesh then it is illegal. Me carying around a home made one is illegal. I can legally carry around a comemrcial 500k one though for self defense just as easily as i can carry aorund pepper spray. That said, who in the world ever said that you'd still have it after using it? Wouldn't it be a bit foolish of someone to keep a home made item such as this if they actually used it on someone though just in the event that they called the police?
@ DD, a suitable excuse/ change of subject to cover your ass (Assuming that you got rid of the device before hand):
"No officer, I have absolutely NO clue what he's talking about... I don't have anything that does anything like that.. All I did was hit him with my keys. Besides why exactly would he be getting "shocked" by me anyway? Did he happen to say what he did that would make me want to "shock" him?" If a cop happens to see you with it when you haven't used it for self defense or anything and they happen to ask you about it, you were just screwing around one day when you got bored and you think it's fun to pop coins and large bugs with it.
The small marks if any on the person would look like they were hit with the sharper edges of keys, and the attention is then turned to why he got "shocked" and it makes you look like the victim, which would make the cop forget completely about your supposed home made weapon. I've dealt with police way too much.

Hmm, I can't see a camera-tazer being very effective. Commercial tazers, like the ones you can purchase online, produce anywhere from 300,000 to 800,000 volts of electricity. A little camera is going to produce what, 600 volts?

330 and it's DC, not AC which is common in commercial stunguns i believe. The amperage from that little 330 volt zap is also higher than the amperage that runs through you when you get hit with 500,000 volts of commercial stuff.
it scares the hell out of people when their skin gets burned, their body gets hot and goes numb, and it all came from a little mint can.
I've got a good camera now, i can take awsome closeup pics. I'll hook one up and show how they'd be made and then what they can do to quarters and stuff.
