Hi kids, Houndish here, some of you may know me, or of me or heard about me or never heard about me before and wonder why you should keep reading. This reason Im glad to tell you is a very good one!... which I'll tell you some other time. Right now though I want to say what's up to all of you. Back in the day me and Jedd used to run a Used Car Dealership together and by "run" I mean "post on" and by "Used Car Dealership" I mean forum. Good times were had by all who frequented this and other boards we then moved to. (The Safehouse) Only a select few people made it to The Safehouse from Weirdpier... and it seems even less have made it here.

Well I've returned... and if I could make it here... so if you remember either of these boards or me... or Jedd when he was actually called Jedd (now DoctaD)Thro me a shout in this thread. It may be my first of many. Basically I want this to be the catch all from the old days, if you know someone from back then link them to here, even if they don't come just give it a shot.

Eventually let's see who we can round up, lets talk about the good old days and the stupid half baked schemes and political nonsense we used to rant and rave about. (How many people have since started a fight club!?LoL tx to jedd for bringin that back up) My goal in all this is to hopefully get the people back and between us we should be able to resurrect the past, check old computers and non-existent url's for anything relating to back then, send it to DoctaD, eventually we could open an old "Archives" read only section for the sake of reflection.

New people to Rorta.net, don't fret, you must realize, our community back then (4-5 years ago) was one of the most diverse, intelligent (well some, haha) and argumentative group I've ever seen. We had some killer topics that rather than repeat, I'd prefer to ellaborate on. (Anyone remember the 12+ page post about God, i think it was entitled God and then 3 months later there was like a God 2 post equally as long) So people of Rorta.net, both new and old, it is my hope to bring back the lively active thought provoking and down right exciting debates back to life! If you read all this, Im sorry, I look forward to the pages of crap you might spew. :bryce: I wish that sign said "Vote for me"

"The idea would be appealing to teenagers, being able to have sex til the cows come home and gauranteed to not get pregnant... but how easily reversable is this norplant thing. Cause like vesectamis (sp?) are in some cases reversable but for the most part are permanent. People would be more willing to do it if it was easily reversable. This rather impressive looking image was made for neo AKA s70n3r aka Kamillion TA who was a member of Pier and The Safehouse. We were going to use it to bring The Safehouse back after I lost internet access for 6 months and it dissappeared from the face of the 'net... due to netfirms being ghay, I assume.

Sorry, that iB has no decent content, if anything at all, posted on it.

The Safehouse existed before I knew about it. It was made by Kornn537 and verm as a place for people to get away from the idiocy of WeirdPier, but only had a small number of posts and very small number of members. The only members I think had joined up before me were the admins and lepracon, maybe Hound. A few months after I joined Pier I started talking to our beloved moderator, Kornn537, on MSN Messenger and he mentioned The Safehouse. I took a look and knew that we had to make a go of it. From there, it started. We got as many of the cool members of WeirdPier as we could to come join us in a board we had control over. Sure, Kornn was able to move and edit posts on the UBB but we had no real power, as Pier was dead against removing or editing anything posted on the forums.

So The Safehouse took off, and constantly improved. We had around 70 members in total, although obviously not all regularly active. Out of our active members we had some of the most interesting and insightful charcters the internet has come across to date. Along with the praise, I must add that most of us were young and not quite the maturest of guys, and thus begun a "board war" with our old home, WeirdPier.

Now, my incredible hacking skills led me to the passwords of two of the current WeirdPier moderators, madscientist and Kit_Knox. Of course, hacking skills isn't exactly the term which should be used... more observation and slight power, and of course mistakes on their part. Ever wonder why passwords are encrypted into the database of forum software now?

So one dark, quiet night it started... I think the people involved were Kornn537, nexus, Eulux and myself, although this was a long time ago and I could be wrong. If I have made a mistake, please do point in out. Since our options were very much limited, we started moving all the threads we could to the Admin Forum... our little fuck you to the board.

After a while Ezboard had complains from some of their advertisers about the contents of some of the forums they hosted and they brought in a profanity filter... well we would not be censored. We were The Safehouse, Where you were safe to say whatever the fuck you want! We couldn't have our profanity replaced with ascii punctuation, it just wasn't happening. So Kornn and I started searching for a new home...

Unfortunately, back then there was a limited supply of free hosting which allowed what we needed. In order to install our ikonboard, we needed to be able to run cgi files and most hosting didnt offer this, until we found netfirms. Sure there were ads, but at the time it seemed like a diamond in the rough. We built our new forums and tried to get everyone across. Although the transition should have almost been instant, we lost a number of members and the board was slow for a while, but as time went on we gradually built our community back up to it's strong self.

Now, as time went on we realised two important things. Netfirms sucks and neither Kornn or myself were as skilled as we would have liked to be. It seemed that Netfirms started deleting necessary files from our board, for no apparent reason. Either that or it was the doing of two people known as madscientist and Berserker (or CodeMason, a young Australian genious who has since dissappeared from the face of the net) but we didn't know what happened, we didn't back up and thus we had to start again, again.

So we made another forum (I think) but soon after I got into a fight with my mothers husband at the time. He punched me in the face, I tried to stab him with a rather large knive and as of that night I no longer resided at my old address... with my internet access. I suppose the best thing about it was during the 6 months I was away, my bedroom door was locked. (The reason he punched me was because I threatened to ring the RSPCA after he kicked my kitten)

So 6 months later I sat back down at my compter to look for The Safehouse, but found nothing. When I tried to contact members of our team I either had no responce or discovered they were no longer interested, so back to WeirdPier I went, with my tail between my legs, to become a moderator.

Feel free to add to the story, guys... Im sure I have posted this before but I always like telling it, and this thread seems like the perfect place.

That details the story line quite nicely. I vaguely remember the civil war at WeirdPier... it was mostly... the regulars vs the newcomers (who Pier in the sake of maintaining high traffic and community growth, sided with). Some of the flame wars we had were the funniest shit I've read in a long time... when myself, Jedd and Verm would gang up on someone to rip them a new asshole... lol and then random people would come to their defense... omg I wish we could get those old posts... man that shit has to exist somewhere.

Well I've talked to Kornn about what we're trying to do and gave him this site, I forgot his role in the whole chain of events although I imagine it was a big one... what about Lepra and Eulux... those two would be nice additions to this board... if they're still around. Me and Lepra used to be pretty tight (as far as the internet goes) but I haven't heard from him in years... I wonder if those guys will find their way here...

Berzerker, Verm, leprechan, and Nexus have pretty much disappeared. I htought you, Hound, and korn had disappeared. I had verm on my aim buddylist for a long LONG time, but he finally stopped getting online.

That story went pretty much as I remember it. Maybe a few details here and there left out, but nothing big that really needs to be mentioned. Mainly just everyone ripping on the pier newbs and their stupid comments and ideas. I still remember some idiot making a post about using tampons and co2 bombs to freak people out. I also remember that I replied with an in-detail description of how I'd rather make a statue out of used tampons (a statue of liberty just to be artistic I believe it was) and then stick one of his co2 bombs in the torch. Then about how it would be nice to set it on his front porch and light the fuse just to see the side of his house plastered with used tampons while his windows were blown out and his family was standing in the fornt yard scratching their heads wondering what they should do.

Anyone else remember that? Then there were things form the old pier. like the post by Hound about using smokebombs to flood a store with smoke so that you could make your way out with a few of the items that you needed while drawing attention to another part of the store that was screwed with as you walked around

I really don't remember much at all from the safehouse though.
