Scenario:

Obama is assassinated. Riots and protests break out in the blue states, and in bigger cities like New Orleans and Los Angeles. As the hatred rolls on, civil unrest on both sides of the conflict slowly develops into civil war.

So, strategic minds of /b/, how does this scenario play out? Some thoughts of mine:

- The red states have more soldiers and guns, and could possibly secure the country in their favor.
- Europe is dependent on trade with the US, and is in a military alliance with the US, but definitely care more about the blue states, and would probably invade and support the blue states militarily.
- Any temporary ceasefires along the way would split the country into two areas of strictly red or blue states, separated by a strongly guarded border.

They wouldn't start a war. End thread.

But I guess the conversation could continue. I can imagine that points of interest would be places like Washington DC, the Arizona desert(defense without civilian harm.) Cape Canaveral. Basically all the national monuments and historical places.

This isnt /b/

Wouldn't start a war. If it did start a war, it would be small and short and the Republican types would totally win.

It would give them a great excuse to get rid of all the guns and round up political dissidents. I mean NRA types and White Nationalists. It suits them to suck up to these elements currently as they need the votes and can manipulate them into sowing the right kind of chaos, but in the long run, these types of people are too hard to control and they'll get the axe once they are no longer useful.

Socialist college professors and other "work within the existing system" types might face some mild persecution but really aren't much threat. They'll be fine.

you seem to assume everyone in a blue state or a red state thinks alike. This attitude is grossly oversimplistic.

I find it amazing that /b/ seems to be corrupting everything in society at an amazingly fast rate. It's tentacles are everywhere. This month's wired has an article on the chanology thing, for instance.

Davey, I read it, good article.

Nevertheless, this thread was created to discuss a war strategy. NOT 4Chan, /b/ or anything else.

All I can say is ever since Obama was elected, I have had a slight expectation of an assassination.

People, have some respect. Don't simply make the assumption that nothing would happen.

The first thing is that it depends on who is responsible for the assasination (or who people perceive the responsible party is). And, as most of you know, an assasionation of this kind of magnitude would bring out conspiracy theorists that would make 9/11 truthers look like Pulitzer winning journalists.

The second thing is that you are playing this out as if the states would fight each other as if this was the civil war or something. States would still be subject to federal law and would not automatically fragment. Your map is also pretty black and white (or blue and red, if you will). A real map of more detailed partisan statistics shows a different picture.

a civil war would not really resemble a war as much as a spontaneous wave of barely coordinated violence across the united states. it would be terrible. there wouldn't really be any 'sides' after too long, just people with guns shooting at other people with guns. the military and other official forces would be quickly rendered inoperable if even 20% were hesitant to shoot their own countrymen, much less outright refusing too and going their own way. bye bye command and control at that point, if in fact that did occur. if the violence escalated for more then a month, i'd expect to start seeing foreign 'peacekeepers' heading our way. which would give us all something we could agree on shooting at at least.

Why do you think that? because he's black, or his policies?

Probably both.

Then again, I wonder if he's done any proper research.

Hellraiser, do tell us why you think this?
