There hasn't been much posting in the Fine Food & Drink section lately therefore, I thought this might benefit ... Or amuse some :yup:

So Rorta, what is YOUR favourite food?

Mine would anything from a chinese restaurant. Might whip down the road and get some now actually...

That's kind of lame... You ask for a favorite food, but you never mention one. Do you mean favorite style of cuisine?

Fuck yes mate! Chinese food rocks!

Although I do love Pizza, Lasagne, Spaghetti Bolognaise, Fried Rice, etc.

My last meal, if I could choose it would probably be lasagne with pizza.

My point is this...

"What is your favorite food?"

"Anything that tastes good!"

Curry... from chip shop style to vindaloo, I love it all. Preferably with red meat, although thai red curry with chicken or prawns rules.

Prawn Curry is good, man. Classic Chicken Korma rocks too.

I ate these for the first time over 10 years ago and Iv liked them ever since. I eat far more of them than I should, they're horrible for your health but oh well.

I also love any kind of jerky. I don't eat it nearly as often as I would if it wasn't so damn expensive. $5 for a little bag with a few pieces of nearly shredded meat that I could devour in one gulp just isn't worth it to me. One of these days I'm going to make some homemade I just don't know if I'll have the patience to wait 8-15 hours for it to finish.

Hell yeah I'm a jerky man myself.
I've had anything from ostrich jerky to deer jerky.
My favorite being buffalo jerky, it's not as dried,. it's nice and juicy and real sweet and salty.
I really love the full sheet of jerky you get from little ma an pa shops.

Jerky here is fucking expensive, which is why I've only ever tried it a handful of times.

Spicy tuna sushi or red pepper chicken fettuccine alfredo with broccoli.
Or homemade chicken pizza.

I'd be content with a mountain of sharp cheddar cheese, however.

There's something very strange about sushi.

I've never had any drug that gave me anything close to the certainty of addiction that I had the first time I tried sushi. I remember thinking "OH SHIT" the first time I tried it.

I've heard other people say the same thing. They say that sushi is a massive hit of the flavor umami which is basically this bland protein flavor that we find irresistable. I've also wondered if there might be something to do with endorphin release and the wasabi, but I've had massive amounts of wasabi in other forms and I never had close to the same effect.

Well, after I eat Sushi I feel dif somehow... like smarter or light headed, its hard to explain, of course when I tell other people this they just think im crazy. haha

iceniner
23rd January 2010, 02:45 PM
Yes! I feel the same way. I think there might be something to it about the wasabi.

In fact, imagine that, I was right!

I could murder some sashimi right about now, holy fuck. I need to learn to start making that shit myself, I bet it's cheap.

well...I'm perfectly fine with oysters on the half shell...I've heard wonders about irish oysters, and one day plan on going...from what I've heard they have the boldest taste...but gulf oysters, of the ones I've tried, are the most flavorful of the americans...but they have a bad rep from vibrio...

but all in all I'd have to go with seafood gumbo, with crab, crawfish, shrimp, oysters, and fish...with a thick-ass roux...almost black roux...from lard.

Damn straight man! Soy was created as a textile, just because you can eat it doesn't mean anyone ever should. It's failsauce, ruiner of perfectly good food.

I like pie... Pie is very good and be be both meal, and dessert. :yumyum:

iceniner

Siomai is ok but it's sort of too heavy, like a lot of dim sum.

The reason I like sushi and sashimi so much is because it's really light, especially sashimi. The shit is so addictive to me that I really don't want to think about how much I've spent on it over the years, I bet it's... I don't want to think about it.

If I were in Houston I'd stay the fuck away from seafood. That thick-ass roux might be black for some other reason.

It's beyond me why people put excessive amounts of Soy Sauce into Noodles and shit. Completely ruins it. Bean sprouts also ruin perfectly decent Chinese food.

Soy Sauce is vaguely acceptable in Peking Duck pancakes in very small amounts.

Pie's good.

If we're talking bacon, my favourite is streaky applewood-smoked. A lot of my favourite recipes call for that!

A large pizza from pizza hut, with extra cheese and pepperoni with pineapple. Or just extra cheese and pepperoni.

Or for simple taste a large pepperoni from lil caesar's for only five bucks or like nine with breadsticks and a 2 liter you cant beat it.

Homemade: grilled porchops with laurys seasoned salt and a side of spicy deer sausage

When you bite into it you have the saucey taste along with the warmth of cheese and then when you bight into the pineapple it just kind of explodes with the juices and all and it mixes with the rest to just taste really good is all I can say

Another vote for sushi.

There's something about it that is sort of like crack to me. I simply CANNOT stop eating it once I start. There is a $30 sushi buffet where I go, I'd give the sushi 7/10 but it's all you can eat so it wins. Fuck yeah.

Having worked at Little Caesar's years ago I will never, ever, ever eat there.

Favorites:
1. Indian
2. Mediterranean (mainly Greek and Turkish)
3. Mexican

Least Favorite:

2. Chinese
3. Belgian

Bulgogi (Korean BBQ) can be pretty fucking amazing.

Shrimp Risotto.

Pulled Pork.

Crab Cakes.

All the best foods seem to the be the ones that are the best at their best, but are the worst when they are bad.

Even [5] sushi is sort of terrible. That's one of those foods that has to be pretty much exactly right or it's horrible.

Sounds simple, but pita stuffed with hummus, feta and roasted red bell peppers is fucking amazing. Of course it varies greatly based on the quality of ingredients, but can be one of the most simple but amazing sandwiches.

Ribeye steak; grilled preferably on a charcoal grill, cooked medium. And a NY style cheesecake with cherry sauce. Yum.
