a guy i know recently was car shopping, and found a credit card. he told me about how he used it to buy two packs of cigs, and is now really worried about the consequences. kind of dumb, for just two packs of smokes.
anyway, what are the chances of him getting caught? is there a certain limit before the police launch a full scale investigation? the amount was only about 9 dollars.
usa by the way.

Hope that $9 was worth a felony rap if they catch him.
Quite possible that it will be below the investigation threshold; most likely the people won't even notice it on their bill unless they realize that the card was missing.
This kind of thing is onesy-twosie and is certainly not worth the potential consequences if caught.

I seriously hope your friend was disguised when he bought those cigarettes and that the sore he bought it from lacked CCTV.

This guy you know is retarded, so we musn't make fun of him.
He would get a felony fraud/theft conviction, but more than likely they won't exert the effort to track him down, unless he comes up with other smart ways of paying for cigarettes.
