Well, what do you think and why?
With the recent announcements that the US are going to go to the moon again [sic], why are they now going back after 30 years? What would have changed there? Or is it just that they were never there (didn't have the capability then) and now have the technology to make a real attempt?

I don't think humans went to the moon but I do believe that there were probes and stuff that landed on the surface.

That would have to be one big elaborate hoax. Too many people would know about it. What would be their motives for doing something like this? It just doesn't seem plausible to me.

People landed on the moon, And I'll go as far as to say that this probably happened when they all said it happened (in 1969 with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin). They had the technology, the space program and the desire to go, so they did. Also, if they didn't go, why would Buzz Aldrin, like a badass old man, punch a man out cold that came up to him on the street and called the moon landing a hoax?

I think the answer lies somewhere inbetween.

I highly doubt we went to the moon as China has plans to go in 2017. Chinas economy is on the rise and they are quite technologically advanced and they still need all that time? If the US could go in the 60's everybody would have been there by now.

Not necessarily. China can afford to wait until 2017 to get to the moon, they are in no rush. However, back in the 1960's the cold war was brewing and the US had a bit of a score to settle with the Soviets ( they were the first to get into space, and had the first man in space). Getting to the moon doesn't require that much crazy-futuristic technology, just some big ol rockets and people skilled enough to land the craft on the moon. China, on the other hand, isn't really racing anybody to get to the moon. They have all the time in the world to refine the technology and make plans to amke their moon trip more productive than ours. Besides, what real benefit is there for any country to spend a bunch of money to send a few people to the moon?

I kind of felt like pulling this out. Its an interesting topic. A few months back I read a newspaper article. "NASA loses original videotape of moonlanding." The article went on to say that they had now lost any video proof that they had really been to the moon. I think they found it pretty soon afterwards. But you'd think if they had really went to the moon there would be thousands of backed up files and lead vaults inside lead vaults keeping that secure. I don't know. I'm still undecided on the issue.

Since this was bumped...
There's a good argument taking the position the moon landing was a hoax, but it ultimately doesn't hold up. It's like the 9/11 video conspiracy, only more black and white.
