I recently posted this on another forum to see what people thought of it, apparantly it is a pretty good idea. I'm just going to copy and paste what I posted for the sake of those hear who would like to read it.

I figured I could share a bit of information for shoplifters that is probably well known already, but just in case some of the newer people haven't tried it they will hear about it.

I am sure someone, somewhere down the line came up with an actual name for this, but basically what I use is a coat with a missing pocket in it. I constantly walk around the mall with my hands in my pockets and I look really casual and it makes me very inconspicuous. If my hands are in my pockets, how can I be stealing right? Wrong-O! You see, there is a certain sports coat that is in my wardrobe that is missing the inner side of its pocket. When I slide my hand inside this pocket, I basically have a flap to cover my arm as I grab. It is a lot like the method of keeping a coat draped over your arm, though in my opinion it can be far more succesful.

Cut the stitching along the inner seam of a pocket so that from the outside the jacket looks totally normal. Make sure the whole is big enough for your hand to fit up all the way to just below your elbow. You should never actually need this much space but it is always better to have it there for the safety precaution, this way you never have to worry about getting snagged. Now either you can keep it like this and just drape your pocket over and grab something then walk away, or you can continue to modify your jacket. More often than not, just behind the seams for a front pocket on a jacket there is a seam that connects the front breast piece to the back piece. Rip up about 6-9 inches of this stitching right along the edge. The jacket still holds together and looks 100% normal from the outside, but you know have a massive compartment on your back that you can slide items into. Of course you will never be able to steal a Discman and do this, because you'll have a fat round thing protruding from your anal region which doesn't tend to look normal for most of us. I'll admit it does take a bit of practice to be able to do this smoothly. The best is when you can walk past something without even pausing and snatch it. Practice at home if you must, it is easy to get good at.
Ask questions if you have any, tell improvements if you've got any. Tell me what you think.

I am working on getting some pictures to show just what it is that I mean by all that crazy business. It's pretty basic, and there isn't an exact way it should be done as the making of it could vary between the different jacket types.
