Yeah, my computer crashed so i figured i'd fix it. So i booted from the windows CD, found lots of unpartitioned space which i called D: and installed winblows on. Later, i found out i wanted to use C: for psd's and stuff, so i just deleted all the folders on it, including the windows folder. Now the pc won't boot windows because NTLDR is missing, even though i deleted the old windows files and not the new ones! Even more confusing, bios won't recognize the windows CD as a bootable disc anymore, so i tried installing linux. That was the dumbest thing yet, since i know jack shit about linux and tried the only command anyone's ever tought me in *.nux - rm -rf * ;D
So the disk fucked itself slowly as i watched and i replace it with another, trying to boot the windows CD again. No luck. Installed nux on that one too. Mandrake 9.02 or something.
Now how can i install windows as a double boot on this system, from command line linux?

Without getting into too much depth on harddrives and why we are able to boot from them, i will just add this....

If you have 2 partions, windows will install it crap on a partion which is bootable, ie the first one...

These files point to the second partion where the files are kept...

To fix this.. id prolly back up as much of the drive as i could using knoppix then nuke it and start again...

To run a dual boot setup.... install windows then install your nix distro....

could have been worse... could have installed BSD...

.

Err.. What's that last part? knoppix?
Anyway, bios says the windows cd isn't a bootable disk, and so i am unable to install it.
How can i format a partition from linux, and how can i run the cd?
So far, all i can do with linux is log in and out. and that's really boring. *misses photoshop*

Linux has a photoshop equivalent called The GIMP. It works just the same as PS. Now for the rest of your troubles.

I had the same problem too, but my Winblows disk booted up, it just wouldn't move past the screen where you choose to install or repair or exit. I installed KNOPPIX, KNOPPIX is a linux distrobution that can be run off of a cd, called a live cd. It is very easy to use and very graphical over other distros. KNOPPIX is based on Debian GNU/Linux, and works much the same. If you want to rescue your Winblows drive, or fix it or whatever run KNOPPIX and find qtparted which can be started from a Konsole or found in the start menu under 'system'.

KNOPPIX can be installed by opening a Konsole (command prompt, shell, whatever) and typing sudo knoppix-installer. Go to www.linuxforums.org (http://www.linuxforums.org) for more help if you need it. The KNOPPIX site is www.knoppix.net (http://www.knoppix.net)
(note that this is not the official site, the official site is in German, so I figured this one would be better for you).

Edit: found the other site in english: www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html

The GIMP is crap... It's like trying to compare PaintShopPro to Photoshop, or SoundForge to ProTools, or Windows MovieMaker to Adobe Premier!

For 99.9% of graphic designers Photoshop is a language, not a program. Now, why move country (metaphor for your OS) and have to speak a different language (metaphor for photoshop) where you cannot get the same point across and speak as efficiently, just because you are having a bit of trouble with the country you live in?

The GIMP works perfectly fine for me and my purpose. I can do the same things as with Photoshop. Maybe you tried an earlier version, or you just plain don't like it.
