Some time ago, someone (I think it was MB) posted 'Guts' by Chuck Palahniuk here on the forums. I've just finished reading 'Haunted,' the book this short story is taken from.
Like many young males, I'm a big fan of Palahniuk. When I read Fight Club, I loved it! After that I bought Survivor and Choke and was unable to put them down. Well wasn't I happy when I walked into my local Waterstones a few weeks ago and saw Haunted, half price. I would have bought it long ago, if it wasn't for the price. It's no cheaper in Canada, either, which I found strange.
Well I finished the book a few minutes ago, and decided to tell you all that you have to read this. It is a book of poems and short stories, held together by the story of a writers retreat... but nothing by Palahniuk can be simple.
While I found this book a lot easier to put down than the likes of Choke, it's a must read. Gruesome, demented, yet absolutely hilarious. I would have thought it would be aimed more towards men, but have been told by women that they enjoyed it too.
