Like sand through the hourglass, so are the vestiges of our privacy. From increased governmental surveilance to corporate content restrictions and data brokers, what you do, where you go, and who you talk to is of more interest to more people every day.

Anonym.OS is an OpenBSD 3.8 Live CD with strong tools for anonymizing and encrypting connections. Standard network applications are provided and configured to take advantage of the tor onion routing network.

Anonym.OS was first suggested by kaos.theory at Interzone 4 in Atlanta, March of 2005. Nearly a year and a lot of marathon coding sessions later, it's a reality and was released by elmore, fade, arcon, dr.kaos, digunix, atlas and beth of kaos.theory at Shmoocon 2006.

Sounds interesting - what I've found some time ago is JanusVM (http://janusvm.peertech.org/) - small linux distro with tor+privoxy inside - runs on VMWare player (which is freeware) - creates local proxy for use with tor... Download size is about 46Mb zipped... Anonymizes your traffic pretty effectively..
Pros - no need to boot from liveCD - you can still use your OS with whatever customization you have on it.
Contras - requires VMWare player installation...

You might also be interested in the xB Browser (http://xerobank.com/xB_browser.html) (formerly known as Torpark), which uses a portable version of Firefox preconfigured to run with Tor (so no installation is necessary). It's great for storing on a USB key and using it from public access terminals to add a little extra layer of anonymity.

xB Browser is the free anonymous web browser. You're just a click away from anonymous surfing right now! The benefits of xB Browser is that it allows you to securely and anonymously surf the internet, bypass firewalls and website censorship. For enhanced privacy, xB Browser clears history of browing and deletes cookies when you close the browser.

The main advantages compared to other anonymous web browsers is that xB Browser requires no configuration, technical knowledge, or installation in order to achieve anonymity. xB Browser is open source so you can feel safe knowing what goes into xB Browser. Additionally, it is even portable on a USB stick so you can take it to work, school, or on vacation.
