So, if any of you have been following the news, which I'm sure you have, you have probably heard that recently a British Company that runs several ports in the United States was sold to the U.A.E. (United Arab Emirates). Bush has come out in support of this deal, but many members of his own party (7/10 of republican congressmen) are vehemently against this deal. Although I don't like Bush, and I don't trust him, I do think that this deal is being way overblown (considering that the ports' security is still in the hands of the Coast Guard, and this arab company really only has very limited power over what goes on within these ports) and that he is in the right to say that he will veto any attempts to delay this deal. One of the reasons that I agree with Bush on this matter is that if this deal does not go through then the Arab world will go into another uproar (although this wouldn't be so uncommon-- those fucking nuts bitching about a cartoon...) which will undeniably cost more tax dollars (an increase of violence in Iraq/Afghanistan= more money I have to pay= BAD). The reason that the failure of this deal will cause an uproar is because the U.A.E. is one of our allies in the middle east, despite the fact that COMPANIES within the country financed terrorists, and the only possible reason that can be given by the lawmakers that want to block this deal is that the party buying the company (which wasn't american in the first place-- so outsourcing isnt an issue) is ARAB, and bloacking a deal for this reason and this reason alone will do nothing but piss off a lot of people and cost more tax dollars.
