By now many of you will probably have heard about the shooting in seattle at the after party for a rave. Having friends effected by this tragedy the only thing I can ask myself is why?

Why when something tragic happens does everyone immediatly start pointing fingers and try and use the pain and suffering of others to champion their cause ?

So far Ive heard raves. drugs. and guns being blamed for this. It makes me sick, one of my close friends who was present at the afterparty while everything happened is still in a state of shock and allready everyones bickering and pointing fingers instead of trying to offer comfort to the victims and families.

I know answers are needed on why it happened, but I dunno, It just really upsets me to see the victims forgotten in a swarm of people trying to advance their way of thought.

*sigh*

What do you think ?

We spend so much of our lives listening to people's sad stories, regrets, mourning... so much that we're almost immune to it. There has to be a strong connection for a lot of us to care, but this is necessary evil.

We couldn't spent a month mourning a Japanese banker who was robbed and murdered, the way his family could. We have lives to live, jobs to attend, families to take care of. Death is a part of life, something we learn to ignore like everything else.

Unless, of course, we work for the media. Death happens all the time, so of course the media needs to cash in on it. Anything which is happening, it's going to be used. A money making scheme which is so common that we pay for it on a daily basis. If there is any kind of angle to be exploited, the media is on it straight away. A teenager shoots someone, the media has a field day... it's the fault of the guns, the parents, anyone or anything else we can think of.

It's aggravating, but such a part of life that we probably all do it. Generalise, blame, assume... ignore.

The media is the scum of the earth. They distort everything; it's like brainwashing. It's sad, really.

No attention goes where it should on this kind of thing. They just want a story, not truth.

Bah, if you look hard enough you can find the truth, Just don't rely on the mainstram media to provide it to you for free (meaning objective). If you take a little bit of time and effort and get essentially the same news from several different sources, they can be sifted through to eliminate bias and you are left with jsut facts. The mainstream media is simply a bunch of companies (advertisers, Networks) delivering the consumers (viewers) what they want. Many of you may feel left out by these companies decisions, I know I do, but, sad as it is, the majority of people are content with the media as it is (if they weren't then they wouldn't be making so much money) and you can't blame them for placing their profits at the top of their priority list, after all it is a business and the chief goal of any business should be to turn a profit, and, since the television networks are mostly corporations and/or are the advertisers, they are publicly traded, and therefore must deliver profits to their shareholders above all else.

This is a sad situation...I think that blaming someone and having a villain to blame the pain on somehow makes it easier to bear. I am not saying that it is right but it is the way that it is.

Sounds like a pretty bad situation... and your right, people should be trying to help the families. To answer your question, people try to champion their cause like that because they are assholes who don't care. It's like mnybxrs said, the media are scum.

Dose anyone have a news article they could post about the shooting mentioned?
