Totse is a great BB. I've been a member there for years now and I've found it's got a lot of serious posters, though too many kids. I'd say it's a good source of information if you research whatever answers you get from totse further before you apply them.

TOTSE has way too may hostile 11 year olds who give bullshit advice and lots of criticism. You could learn something there but be sure to test everything and think it through because most of them talk a good game but talk is cheap. Make sure that the plan is solid before taking it through...especially with my fav topic..."Bad Ideas." :D

Anyways, I registered on TOTSE in 1998 and I think it was around a lot longer than that. It?s too big for me. Now I never go to the forum, just the written articles.

Totse in my opinion is complete crap. I have an account there but I have never posted. It's impossible to dig through the mountain loads of shit to find anything interesting. I also started off on bombshock and that's a great forum.

&TOTSE has been around since before alot of it's trolls were even born. 1989 iirc. It was a dial-up BBS that only went live on the web some time around '97

Totse is definitely not the place you'd go to if you were actually looking for Hot Pink Amoeba stuff. The forums are good, but when it comes to fringe stuff like scamming, "hacking", and explosives, totse just doesn't cut it (actually, the explosives forum is one of the best, some real intelligent people there). The rest of the forums are pretty good, outside Spurious Generalities (general forum, a lot of stupid 13 year olds there, but good for the lulz once in a while despite).

Good way to kill time I guess.

It was originally called 'And the Temple of the Screaming Electron' (&TOTSE for short) when it was a dial-up BBS. Uniform Resource Locator's (URL's) on the web have a problem with ampersand's (&'s) so it had to be left out. Also TOTSE sounds better than ATOTSE.

I have seen some seriously twisted shit on there. I try to avoid it but 80% of the users have done it at one point or another. As I regular poster on totse, I've come here to try to refute your claims and/or justify my reasons for being an active member.

It has been stated several times that totse is too busy. I don't see this as a bad thing. When I lurk here or any other forum for that matter, I'm disappointed on how long it takes for people to reply to topics. I can post a question on totse, come back 20 minutes later, and have 5 replies. They may all be shit, or I may be getting the information I desire. For example: Rorta has two pages of "World Wide Web", but totse's "I Found it on the Web" has a lot more. The BBS is down right now so I have no numbers. There is some seriously sick shit on there, from pics of a dead raped baby's anus, to Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up". I clicked on the former hoping to desensitize myself, I wouldn't recommend it.

There are a bunch of kidiots on totse who troll and spam and make things shitty. It never ends, but the problem does ebb and flow. When school lets out for summer all hell breaks loose. There's multiple "How much weed can I smoke without OD'ing", and "Help: I'm 15, but my dick is only 4.5 inches. How much will it grow in the next year so I can get a girlfriend" threads. If you keep persevering through all this shit you will eventually come upon something useful.

The crime forum occasionally produces something great, like the algorithm for the numbers on prepaid debit cards. The drug forum is usually good for a few laughs, same with the sex forum. Music, movies, games, DIY usually provide good discussion. The auto forum can provide great information, especially the mod, truckfixr. Spurious is good for the lulz; each forum has its perks.

Short version:

I like totse because of how large the community is, and as a result of that, how much information is posted. It has it's problems, but to me the good outweighs the bad.
