not sure where else to put this, sorry if it's the wrong spot.

SWIM did some research and found out there is no law about selling guns, unregistered or not, to minors in New Mexico. If SWIM lives in a different state than NM, would SWIM be able to take a greyhound there and back (hypothetically with firearms), or is there too much security and would SWIM need to drive?

I would drive myself anyway, just in case. I have never traveled anywhere in the country by bus so I don't know how the security would be, but I would deffinetly drive. Is your friend certain that they sell any kind of gun to a minor, including handguns? I always thought that the handgun laws were federal.

i thought the handgun law was federal also, but, a friend sent me a link with some of the New Mexico gun laws showing for example that they can sell unregistered guns, sell to minors, sell without doing a background check, sell without doing a ballistics (sp?) test, etc.

Registratin has nothing to do with legal majority in NM. Either way, in NM, registration is not mandatory. Minors can possess handguns, but an adult must purchase it, and give it as a gift, along with a reciept.

Possesion of weapons of any kind on a bus is a serious crime. Even more so if you cross stae lines with the intent to smuggle them, no shit huh?
