I hate emo... The emoish people ALWAYS complain about people judging them and being mean to them... well, It's because people who are EMO complain too damn much. why complain when everyone else has their problems?
EMO people talk aboput how it isnt fair to judge someone because of the music they listen to... i dont judge anyone because of the music they listen to, mainly because i'll listen to anything (i do however have my preferences). People judge emo kids and make fun of the emo-ish little people because they all dress the same, act the same, listen to the same shit, watch the same shit, laugh at the same shit, and are in general all cookie cutter and not in any original. When people start acting like themselves and not like other people just to fit in or just because their friends do something, then i'll start giving my respect.
Proof about how EMO people complain is the fact that you started this topic to do nothing more than complain about how unfairly the emo clic is treated. Noone cares about the emo kids. you're all easy targets because for the most part the large majority of emo kids aren't in any way original. they dont seem to have their own personality..
Me personally, i watch what i like, i listen to what i like, i wear what i like, and i dont give two shits and a severed leg about what other people say about me. i don't care about other peoples opinions. I have my own opinions and thoughts to occupy my time. I have my own problems and i dont give a shit about other peoples problems. i don't want to hear people complain. Emo kids are just that. KIDS. when they grow up they'll see that what other people say or think doesnt matter. that's when they'll stop recieving so much flak. WHEN THEY GROW UP.
SO that should be the end of this topic. the complaining that will no doubt come in response to this post (and i know thats what will be the response to this post) should be forgotten about now because no one cares to read it. thanks for you time.

Okay. I'm not an emo kid - I listen to some emo music because it's good.
The thread wasn't really about the clique, it was about the music. I can be emo without listening to emo - I can be gangster without listening to rap.
And, fyi, everyone is cookie cutter; everyone is a member of a clique, nomatterwhat.

You can make up a clique that someone would be part of in your eyes due to your assumptions on them from whatever little you happen to know about them... doesn't mean it's true.

I challenge you to find one person who is exactly like me... Fuck i don't like many of the clothes that are in stores now so i make my own... really cookie cutter let me tell you.
And im not really in a clique... I hang out with everyone as long as they treat me like a person rather than an animal. I refuse to be a part of a clique because im not going to limit myself like that. I'll hang with anyone as long as theyre cool ya know? I was just stating the reasons why people give the emo population shit.
FYI.. saying that everyone is cookie cutter is just a poor assumption. artists, fashion designers, programmers and anyone who is creative is not cookie cutter. only in some aspect are they in any way similar, and thats the fact that theyre all programmers, artists, or fashion designers. Hope you cans ee where i'm coming from on that one.

Not everyone is a member of a clique. I used to be one of the "nerdy" kids, then I became one of the "popular" kids, or "gangsta" kids, depending on where you come from those two might seperate into different cliques.
Nowadays, though, I just hang out with everyone and conversate with everyone. My style of dress isn't always the same, though it's more thugish simply because I like the way that style of clothing looks on me. Besides, my personality instantely makes me unable to fit into either of those two cliques, depending on which part is forced to be drawn up under the situation.
Not everyone is a member of a clique. There are individuals out there who don't fit in with anyone. You just gotta find them, they're a rarity.

I think there isn't a punk scene because punk is dead. You can't blame a style of music for "killing" another kind. Maybe it just better reflects the feelings of the listeners. Maybe it has a catchier tune. Maybe its the fact that you don't live in 70's UK with a deteriorating economy. I'm sure if you took away the "emo" then I reeeeeally doubt pure punk would just spring back to life unconstrained by its suppressing genres...

In the years leading up to my parents divorce, my mother would take me on long car rides and blast mix tapes a sound engineering friend would make for her. I'd only been exposed to mild shit like barbershop quartets up till then, so when she played the Sex Pistols cover of My Way it blew my poor fragile 6 year old skull. To me, THAT was music. And perhaps more relavantly; that was punk. Fast forward to middle school, and some kids in the gym class locker room are blasting Blink 182 as loud as they can, and saying how they liked California punk like Blink made. The moment Blink 182 became considered punk was the day punk music died IMHO (and Green Day doesn't count, I happen to like it, so blow me :P ). Emo had nothing to do with the death of punk, it was going away perfectly well enough on its own thank you very much.
Getting back to the topic of the thread (roughly), I dislike emo not because I think all emo kids are retarded pussy fucking faggots who complain too much and everyone has their own problems and I'm gonna fucking cut you like a bitch you little motherfucker; but because *gasp* I simply just don't like the music very much!
Why does every conversation about emo wind up talking about how emo kids are miserable wastes of air, space, and time (dare I say, space-time?) Going after emo kids like that not only reinforces their assumptions that the world is a depressing hellscape devoid of all feeling and empathy, but also makes you all look like frothing-at-the-mouth rotweillers to boot.
EDIT: And for the record blaksun, every stereotype is spawned from a seed of truth. And that's about all I hope to say about that.

Punk isn't dead, everywhere in some places I'm sure it is, but pure punk isnt dead. I don't like the emo music either, it's not the kids (although they make me hate it that much more), it's just that the music doesn't appeal to me.

I personally havent yet met a kid from the emo crowd who is worth my time and effort. the only ones who have ever spoken to me only speak to me because they're
a) complaining about how their girlfriend/ boyfriend broke up with them over somehting stupid
b) complaining about something that really shouldnt be complained about because its a temporary thing that will sort itself out in the near future anyway
c) they're asking my opinion on something that they do as opposed to what other people do.
i guess i keep a pretty neutral standing on what i think of groups and the people in them so people (some that i've never met which is scary) do often ask my opinion about things. hell some of the people on the old rorta that I had never spoken to before up to the moment randomly im'ed me here and there to ask my opinion on things and some of em kept coming to me for advice..
thats why I say what I say about the emo kids. you'd have to ask everyone else for their reason. Had any of them talked to me about anything besides their problems I most likely wouldnt have a problem with them.
I think everyone can be stereotyped.. thats just a way to describe someone loosly. to say that everyone is in a clique. that's incorrect because there are the people who hang with everyone, who are completely original, or who lock themselves away from other people for whatever reason.

Emo is like a clique of kids who don't want to fit under the "goth" cataglory. They share the same views on the world, that's its a depressing place and they might be better off dead. While I don't have any appreciation for emo kids, I can almost understand them, however, they piss me off. There are many faults in the world, yeah. But stop bitching about it already, suck it up, go outside, face your problems and fears, and move the hell on.
The problem with emo kids is that they constantly whine, and do nothing about whatever it is that's bothering them. Or, they start complaining about shit that has to do with their boyfriend/girlfriend, and such. That's one reason I don't like LiveJournals, it's become a breeding ground for emo kids. >_>

When I was a Kid in the 80's My step sister and brother would
listen to rap and rock.I liked both because 1.Rap was something
new and Un-sensored 2.Rock was extreme and crazy.
when I was in 5th Grade I started listening to Pearl Jam,Dinosaur
Jr,Smashing Pumpkins, and some Punk.In middle school I liked
Dead Kennedys,Minor Threat,SNFU, and alot of other un-produced
bands.I have always thought music was something a group made
from life expierence and not what some yuppie wanted.I of course
am not big on consumerism or commercialism.I like reality even
though it is hidden from most of society.I hate conformity which
seems to made it's roots on the world of Abercrombie&Fitch and
MTV passive influence.
These are times when it is cool to say, or act like you're different!
the fact of the matter is the real different people dont have to put
any effort into indevidualism. There is a mass of each population
that lives a lifestyle made public by the media or highly paid pop
stars(hence the sudden buying of pink by dudes!).When all is said
and done you're not different because of the music you listen to
or you're new found perspective. You are just getting into a seen
made populer by a figure who has influence on trends.
I personally think conformity has made it's way into the "Under-
Ground" seen. This is the reason for mass advertiseing, and the
reason for everyone and there cousin wharing DK T's and Tatoos.
I cant find the difference between the Jack Ozbornes with the BMW
and Starbucks Trademark Black frame glasses, and the Punk with
the tight Brand Name nestalgic jeans, and pair of skate shoes on.
I can go into any newly built houseing development and see a dude

Yeah, I'm not reading through all that shit.
Emo is a trend by far.
Emo is for kids that want to commit suicide but are too big of a pussy to cut their own wrists. Fuckers. I always used to hear voices in my head, and I had extreme paranoia and depression. I would sit at my bed each night with a knife to my wrist, but I overcame it all. Did I go and cry my tear out because I had mental problems? Nope! Do these emo kids cry and write songs bcause this girl that they liked didn't like them? Yep!
Unfourtanately I live in the Hub of emo land, labels usually look out here for bands which gives this area a bad name in mine and many others who actually know and love music.
I have friends who are emo, and when they get upset or complain (which is quite frequently) me or someone else tell them "Hey why don't you go write a song about it?" and laugh. If you don't find it funny, say it to someone and it will be.
Fucking emo, I can go on and on about how it's not a real genre and they just stole the punk rock attitude and turned it into lollipop radio friendly.
There are many songs that are depressing and involving women, but noone cried about it.
Punk is almost an attitude, emo is a faggy trend.

You're thinking of Elmo. Elmo = Seasame Street and Emo = Crappy "Emotional" "Music". I don't know if you're talking about emo fans or punk fans so I'll explain both.
Most of these emo kids are kids that don't know what music is. They accept all kinds of music without even knowing the first thing about it. All they want to do now is get signed, yet "be true to the music". The walk around looking like faggy punky gothic emo kids. They can't decide wher they want to belong. It's not so much the music that bothers me, some of it is pretty good and I'll admit it first hand, but it's those kids that I hate, and not just in the emo genre, but in punk, rap, rock, hardcore... they all piss me off. As for the those punk kids they piss me off too. Most of those kids are probably in cubicles, but lets not take everything from SLC Punk. Dressing like that cause of the music they listen to and turn around and give me sucky bands. If you're gonna' talk about Punk rock I better hear the basics like the Ramones (they have to be in there or I won't even listen to you. They are the birth of what we now call punk rock), BlackFlag, Dead Kennedys, Velvet Underground, New York Dolls, The Sex Pistols (even though I don't like them all that much). These are the few that built the base of punk. I see kids walking around talking about NoFx and Anti-Flag, but can't tell me shit about Ramones or BlackFlag or Dead Kennedys. What good are these kids? Then again as Jello Biafra once said "We're not Punk Rock! We're New Wave!".
I guess I gave the impression that I'm some kid with a leather jacket and spikes maybe since you think I'm an outlaw because I didn't read through all those posts. Thruth be known that I didn't feel like reading through post after post after post so if I repeated someone's thoughts you know I didn't read it. Hence the "I'm not gonna' read all that shit" cause in all honesty, the only opinion that matters to me right now is mine. So i was just gonna' give you what I had to say.
If anything I look like I belong in a Hardcore band. Some cargo pants (not too big), a T-Shirt and an underarmer underneath during those colder times, and a zipper up sweatshirt over that, capped off with an army hat. But I don't even listen to hardcore music. I wear that because it's what I like to wear, simple and original until others started to wear it. So what music do I listen to? Besides the Ramones, BlackFlag and Dead Kennedys, I listen to Red Hot Chili Peppers, Grandaddy, Jack Johnson, Donavon Frankenrieter, Johnny Cash, Jane's Addiction, and right now I'm listening to G. Love and Special Sauce and I'm about to go through an entire collection of John Frusciante. Does that sound like a punk to you?
As for the speeding, I don't speed. I had court the other day for it for doing over 80 in a 55. Luckily it wasn't when I used to do 90/100 in there. I did get even luckier to bring it all the way down to a failure to signal so it was only 2 points on my license, a $90 fee instead of $145, and the insurance company couldn't raise my insurance. As for the neighborhood I do 40 when I have the space to do so but most of the town is filled with curving streets and stop signs so my average speed is around 30. Just so you know.

I think the types like Judd Nelson potrayed in "The Breakfast Club"
are ether Dead or locked away in Prison now days.If people like
the ones he potrayed where still around and raising hell you would
not see Easter colored Housing Developments sprouting like lawn
grass monthly.I hate to use a Hollywood Movie Character as a ref-

to the people I knew growing up who where hell raisers.
When I was younger we would of beat the shit outta someone for

My job entails me hauling a lot of heavy stock around the place; namely TVs and microwaves and the like. If you've bought one recently you'll know the kind of box. Big, heavy and square with two shitty hand-holds cut into the sides. Well, if you're holding the hand-holds, the top of the box comes up to your wrist. And if you're hauling the around all day the jagged cardboard starts cutting you. Voila, cut wrists. Goes down a treat in those wierd bars too.
True story.

Its not Metalcore.

I hate emo... The emoish people ALWAYS complain about people judging them and being mean to them... well, It's because people who are EMO complain too damn much. why complain when everyone else has their problems?
exactly, in my honest opinion, the so called "emo" kids complain just for attention. Instead of going out and solving their problems they sit around and sulk in their own misery. They should go cut themselves and pass out so we dont need to hear all of their complaints 24/7

This had gotten kind of tired. Disliking a social clique (one of which you also belong to) makes you look worse than them. Personally, I think emo girls are damn fine (well, a lot of them). And a lot of my buddies have that look too and they're all nice guys (although admittedly a lot of them are gay, which isn't a bad thing either of course).
Anyway, if you let how a person you don't know dresses or acts annoy you, you're a retard.
