I like rorta a lot, so I hope no one's offended when I list it with some other names...

Information contained on sites like rorta, totse, textfiles and a0tu, to name a few, have a lot of information, especially on explosives. What is the danger of this information?
From what I see, most of these "texts" are posted by kids with no background in chemistry or computer science. Most texts seem to be ripped off. How many times have we seen that horrible macro picture of a supposed dollar bill and where you're supposed to make a notch?
Copy, paste, put your name as the author. That also weighs heavily when it comes to how reliable these texts are. Some may have worked in the past, fewer in the present, so has anybody actually tested these ideas/texts?

There needs to be a board dedicated to testing, and sometimes debunking, these texts, because they could pose a serious danger. Maybe it's Darwinism, but kids are, not stupid like society tends to lead everybody to believe sometimes, but greatly ignorant. (No kid will fully realize that truth until they're out of high school)

That is very true but boards like this and a0tu ect do have forums where people discuss there experiences so I believe that to a large degree the information is more reputable.
Though not all have a background in chemistry I think on most boards there are a few who really do know there stuff.

That's why I like this board...

Yeah, I think you're selling the textfile scene short, and comparing the idiots at totse, to any other place is a bit mismatched. There are lots of places out there where legit info is passed. Try checking out http://www.sciencemadness.org Thats a little slice of paranoid heaven that madscientist created and turned over to some other guy.

Perhaps, but selling the text scene short comes from outdated texts, unproven texts, and texts written by kids. I'm sure there's good information, but a lot of bad. I'll check out the link you gave me.

As for totse, I don't even bother.

Not just these days, always. I have been hearing about how good totse used to be, and how its gone to shit for years. In fact thats all I've ever heard of it. Just face it, it was sucky from the word go. Its the same 1950s were so great attitude that lets people think that the world used to be some great place with good Christian morals and roses and sunshine for everyone. Problem is, you can never go back far enough, you just keep hearing about how its gone to crap "these days". Nothing changes.

I think whenever you're looking up information on making explosives and scams and whatnot on the internet, that if you don't have a finely tuned bullshit detector and you get burned by trying out what you read, that you kinda deserve what you get.

It's like Darwinism for pissed off 13 year olds!

I found this post slightly confusing in that you used second person, but did not quote anybody. I assume you're talking to me, yes?

There are some good sites with good information out there, but it's rare. My bullshit detector works quite well, and there's no chance in hell I'd ever trust a chemical formula online without checking it out by a pro.

Everyone here seems quite mature to me and intelligent, this isn't the anarchist's cookbook, this is a web communitys knowledge, so if you want to know wether it's safe or not, check the authors name. :)
