Does anyone know how to deal with this? I was thinking of the bolt cutter thing, or cutting the plastic with scissors but it might attract a little to much attention. I was hoping to find out what that lock is called and what the store uses to open it I think it has something to do with a magnet. Based on the little slit on the top it cant be that complicated.

Try scissors, and cut an opening in the plastic that's hanging on the metal. Slips right off...

It appears to be a security device that latches on to the end of hooks used to suspend merchandise, thereby preventing you from taking the item without aid from a clerk. I imagine it has some sort of ink splatter device, otherwise I would just rip the fucker off.

Actually, he said scissors would cause too much attention. I still say go for it. I've personally never seen such a device. Most everything has cables or is locked behind glass out here.

Using a sharp knife or scissors is going to attract less attention than either ripping it off, or opening it.

Small toe nail cutters would be small can cut through plastic and you could pretend to be looking at the packet.

try persona razors. they are made of surgical steal and can be found at any sally's beauty supply. they are small and incospicous and will slide through that plastic like a hot knife through butter

Nah, I think Stone's idea is better.

They are fuckin' gnarley. Not quite as sharp as a straight razor honed by an experienced user, but they hold their edge better in alternative applications.
