View Full Version : three leaved sprout!!!

I've grown many many times through the years, but this particular batch of seedlings has one sprout that has three leaves as its first set!! In all my years growing I have never seen anything like this, lots of other mutations but none like this. Not only are the first set tripled but the starting set was too (the very first 'leaf' set that usually drops off soon after the real first set arrives...) I can't wait to see what is up with the second set.....

Anyone else had experience with this type of mutation? Maybe it is a sign of luck, like a four leaved clover or somethin?

anyways....

hey never had that before but one time when it just sprouted out of the soil the first set of leaves were broken of an it mutated to a kind of beanplant seedling sadly that plant died due to lack of water but it would have been a nice thing to watch an see if it grew to produce buds. maybe even mutated highly concentrated in THC or just shit.

yeah Ive had all sorts of various mutated seedlings but nothing like this one, usually the difference is in the leaf patterns, like instead of being normally spread they are tiny thin and look like a bunch of pins stickin out from the stalk or something, or they get a scrunched up looking (or both). This batch was given to me (bag o outdoor couple years ago) just riddled with seeds, usually I get angry about that kind of thing but in this case I was stoked cause I had recently lost my seed stock due to a home flood sprouted them all in their bags (wah). I have no ideas about type or strain but just finished the first batch of them a month or so ago and they turned out great (small but great) so I figured I would give em a go again, To boot, the last batch turned out to be over 99% females from seed, which is usually unheard of unless they are hermies (no hermies here). When I get my cameras going better I'll see about taking a snapshot of its progress and post it (unless that is frowned on?) I wanna take a few pix anyways just to document my unique little mutation.

I wonder if those nugs will gimme special spidey powers?

Ok folks, here it is, snapped with my shittie web cam (pawned my good cam [g'dammitt]). Sorry bout the BMP but that is the only way it will take a snapshot, I use it for security usually so I don't think it was designed to be taking snapshot pix... http://tinyurl.com/y6eyzg

first time trying that so I hope it werks? cheers all..

btw, the second set is well on their way, I can't quite tell if they are going to be tripled yet but looks like it....yah!

Thankx for compliment, the triple leafer is actually 'stunted' compared to the rest of the group, they are all well into their second sets and growing more each time I checkem out. They are all sharing a set of florescents so the outer ones have that beanstalk look going that you were describing previously (thats usually from lack of light intensity)- I have a halide but not going to plug it in untill they are at least into the thrid and fourth sets and I can give em a first prune.

I've grown exclusivly under florescent lights before and so long as they are right butting up close to the tops the results are great, and much more effiecient (on the wallet).

These and the last batch are just groing in dirt, a mix I made up from two manufacturers, has peat, guano and perlite/vermiculite for lots of breathin space- that is super important for these guys as they can gro as much as 6inches a day under the ideal settings (when they get a bit bigger). Ive done many methods of hydro in the past but I just don't have the capacity to maintain those systems anymore, I'm lazy and forgetful, not a good combo.

Anyways, I shoudl go, trying to make a set of bump-keys tonight, first batch works like a charm, made it into test lock in under 3 secs each try!!! fuk pickin, that just got me frusterated, bump yer way into riches is my new motto!!!!

nice i didn't think using a fluorescent light would be any good. i didn't know how old that plant was maybe get a fan in there to strengthen ya stems an a little stick for some support

yeah using the flourescent lighting is really the way to go in my books if you are trying to gro alot of plants especially while they are young and you are concerned about the hydro bill. Here in BC they are crackin down big time about the indoor groin, they like to chat with hydro regularly and track monthly stats closely, as I would too I guess if I was the cappers.

So, I stick with flourescents as long as possible, and also use daylight to augment whereever possible, I have a rather small bachlor appartment and a coupld of kitties that like to munch so I stick em up on tables where they can't get at them and when they get larger the whole place is like a small forest. Stank is a big issue for me, even running a fan 24/7 and leaving the slider open all hours it is still pretty bad when I wake up untill I crack the curtains...I usually hide the smell as much as possible by stuffing the fabric softener sheets all over the place, plus I smoke lots during home hours to sort of cover the 'growing weed' smell. This comlex is full of folks like me so every floor is stinkin like the weed most times anyways, but for folks who know better it is easy to tell the diff between smoked dope and growing dope smells, so gotta be careful, lots of scammers around here to boot, plus junkies so I run security cams whenever I leave. Happily, I have never been hit on any of my own indoor projects, have been usually whenever a partner is involved so I gave up on those along while back, and outdoor I always try to figure in loosing at least a third of the totals so usually would plant all that many more and spread them out into patches of ten to twenty per.

I gave up on growing for a bunch of years while I moved on to selling powders, made alot of cake doing that but for some dumb ass reason I retired from it (plus got busted a few times so...) and have tried to get back in a few times since but just never took off again like it did. Lots of serious cash in that racket but even more risk, plus the truely bad Karma/vibes, whatever you want to call it, that shit is real- take it from someone who has been there.

Still is a huge huge market, always will be, is the nature of the dopes...PS, I never touched the crystal meth, folks into that craop shoudl just be shot, yesterday! (gotta draw the line somewhere...)

Anyhow, as I was saying, got out of the groin, but it is really a great venture to get into if you are willing to do it right, out or in. I prefer the out because can get more bulk, is more werk but around here the strains are so refined that it is very tough to know the diff between well grown out and indoor, they are about the same looking and I find the buzz of the outs is always a better result....I dunno....

yeah the second set finally made it out, and they are indeed still tripled- I have a true mutated plant going on here...I cannot wait untill the first fan leave sets start, wonder how that is going to werk? Will the tripling still be maintained then somehow? Will just have to wait and see- I'll tell you though, male or female I am going to clone the heck out of this beast- I may even be able to sell some to specialty shops in vancouver!!! I've heard that those seed banks charge high prices for specific strains- doubt that they have had experience with this...and yeah, the nugs are great, just finished a batch a month or so earlier, don't know if i mentioned but the female to male ratio was well into the 99% range.

I'm stoked about something at least...

I just started growing this season. I've got about 10 small plants with three sets of leaves growing indoors under a fluorescent light setup. I'll probably start moving the bigger ones outside tomorrow since it is 420. :cop:

I plan on cloning to so i'm thinking i'll have about 20 seedless females when harvest time comes. Does anybody know of any specific fertilizer brands good for weed? I heard miracle grow sucks.
